Climate Change All Change
Non-profit Organizations
Climate Change All Change brings together school children and designers to co-design solutions to the climate crisis.
About us
Climate Change All Change, a charity organisation formulated in 2020, aims to help understand and solve the climate crisis by empowering children, engaging designers, and mobilising cultural institutions to use design as a powerful tool of collective action. Over the next 15 months we will launch a full programme of creative partnerships. A successful pilot has already taken place, the results of which will be displayed during the London Design Festival 2021 at the V&A in South Kensington. The V&A Museum of Childhood have been supporting this venture and have collaborated closely in setting its objectives and pilot display.

At last month’s Climate Change All Change (CCAC) Designers' Workshop, kindly hosted by Zaha Hadid Architects, we shared this powerful video from Sophia Robey, teacher at Thornhill Primary School. Sophia reflected on her students’ six-week co-design project with Shibani Choudhury of Zaha Hadid Architects. Key takeaways included: 💡 Using real-world design examples to inspire students 💡 Emphasising hands-on iterative learning 💡 The importance of building collaboration and presentation skills to empower young voices Check out the video below to hear more from Sophia about what it's like collaborating on a CCAC project from a teacher's perspective - plus a few insights into what she would do differently next time ! #sustainabledesign #climatechange

Meet Cassie Quinn, one of our Climate Change All Change (CCAC) Young Designer Awardees🌿 We’re delighted to spotlight Cassie Quinn, multidisciplinary designer, PhD student, and founder of CQ Studio, as one of this year’s CCAC Young Designer Award winners. In our recent interview, Cassie shared more about her practice creating bio-based regenerative textiles from food waste and what she will be teaching children as part of her upcoming co-design project. Cassie’s collaboration with Coppermill Primary School in Walthamstow will kick off in Spring 2025, where she’ll lead a six-week hands-on project teaching children how to transform food waste into textiles and pigments. Here’s what Cassie had to say about the process: "Reducing food waste is the biggest thing people can do to lessen their carbon footprint. Instead of focusing on the emissions of big fashion houses, I want to help children understand how they can make an impact - it gives them hope." Through her CCAC award, Cassie will also gain access to tailored mentorship, opportunities to shadow teachers, and the support of an experienced design community. We're Finalists ! ! 🎉 We’re delighted to share that Climate Change All Change (CCAC) has been selected as a finalist for TET (ThorntonEducationTrust) ’s Inspire Future Generations Awards in the Climate Change category! During our 2023/2024 programme, we brought together 510 nine and ten year olds from seven schools to tackle climate challenges through design. Over six weeks, students worked with architects and designers to create imaginative concepts for a climate-changed future. By combining climate science and hands-on design workshops, we inspire children to challenge eco-anxiety through problem-solving activities. We’re incredibly grateful to our amazing collaborators over the past year: Levitt Bernstein / Springfield Primary School, Manchester DaeWha Kang Design / City Junior School, London Jack Trench Design | Bespoke Kitchens & Furniture / London Fields Primary School, Hackney Zaha Hadid Architects / William Tyndale Primary School, Islington Hassell / Clapham Manor Primary School Arup & Allford Hall Monaghan Morris / Ashton Gate Primary School, Bristol Zaha Hadid Architects / Thornhill Primary School, Islington Thank you to TET (ThorntonEducationTrust) for recognising the importance of empowering young people to visualise a sustainable future. Together, we’re designing hope and resilience for tomorrow. 💚 Looing forward to attending the awards ceremony on the 13th January - fingers crossed! #ifgawards #ifgawards2024

Last week, one of our Young Designer Awardees, Cassie Quinn (Founder of CQ Studio), paid her first visit to Coppermill Primary School in Walthamstow, to meet deputy headteacher Mr Gilbert and Yr6 class teacher Ms Townsend. Next year, Cassie will help the Yr6 children apply her highly innovative approach to create their own textile designs. At Climate Change All Change (CCAC), we are proud to work with emerging designers who are prepared to extend to Gen A their expert design knowledge. CCAC supports participating designers with: 1-2-1 meetings with a specialist educational consultant, shadowing teachers at their partner schools, and a community of experienced CCAC designers who willingly share their knowledge and experiences. The CCAC Young Designer Award is supported by The Linbury Trust. #regenerativetextiles #regenerativefashion #codesign

We're excited to introduce Cassie Quinn, our third CCAC Young Designer Award winner! She'll be partnering with Coppermill Primary School based in Walthamstow, teaching the children how to use waste to create their own innovative textile material. Cassie is a regenerative design researcher and founder of CQ Studio, currently undertaking a PhD in Regenerative Textiles with Living Systems Lab at Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London During her six-week project, the children will learn how to apply a science-based approach to create their own textile designs. Cassie aims to educate the next generation about the need for sustainability within fashion and textiles and show techniques to replace current toxic industry practices. The CCAC Young Designer Award is kindly supported by The Linbury Trust. #regenerativetextiles #regenerativefashion #codesign

A very rewarding event! Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and participated.
Great to see some of our designers and schools – past and present - all in one space last Thursday evening for our CCAC Designers’ Workshop - generously hosted by Zaha Hadid Architects! It was an opportunity for current partner designers and schools to share with our next cohort of CCAC designers their lessons-learned around engaging with primary school children. Here’s a brief snapshot of what some of our speakers said: Jack Trench from Jack Trench Design | Bespoke Kitchens & Furniture – an early supporter of our programme – stressed the importance of not overcomplicating lesson plans, providing buffer time at the start and end of the sessions and getting to the ‘doing’ as quickly as possible. Shibani Choudhury from Zaha Hadid Architects told us how she got the children to use whiteboards and A1 tracing paper rather than normal A4 paper so that the children would be less precious about their concept designs. Jamie Potter from Levitt Bernstein said that “utilising primary teachers' tips was really handy” during their co-design project and how useful it is to ask them for feedback at the close of each classroom session. Georgia Trower from Hassell advised that at the beginning of each classroom workshop designers should recap what had been learned in the previous session to make sure all the children can keep up. She also shared a nifty trick to get children's attention: “Rather than getting louder, it’s better to get quieter to draw their attention to you”. Big thank you to all our guest designers for attending, including two of our inaugural Young Designer Awardees, Polly North from LANDE Design Studio and Clara Chu from Clara Chu Ltd. Thanks also to one of our partner schools Thornhill Primary School for providing us with insights - not only from teachers but parents and children too. It was a pleasure to have Amy Agnew and her son Kit there to share their experiences with us. Climate Change All Change reposted this
Last night, I was pleased to attend a ‘designers forum’ by charitable initiative Climate Change All Change, which seeks to improve national climate literacy in schools through co-design programmes in sustainable, climate resilient design as a collaboration between year 5 pupils and professional designers. We reflected on our collective experiences (including our own work at Levitt Bernstein with Springfield School in Sale) received feedback from inspired teachers and pupils alike and heard from co-founder DaeWha Kang on exciting plans for future growth of the programme towards potential integration of this critical subject in the national curriculum. One particularly interesting takeaway was how much the pupils enjoyed working collaboratively with both designers and each other in teams, as they developed their wildly imaginative ideas towards a final reveal and professional interpretation. This ‘soft’ skill of working together is not part of the curriculum but a critical tool in helping solve the climate challenges ahead. Thanks to Zaha Hadid Architects at their Farringdon studio for hosting us for the evening. Best of luck to this years cohort of designers, as this inspiring initiative goes from strength to strength. #sustainabledesign #climatechange
