About us
Causeway Education is a charity that supports young people to overcome barriers to accessing higher education, apprenticeships and early careers. We exist to make sure progression is not determined by privilege. We want to ensure students get the support they deserve to explore options, make choices and produce outstanding applications. We do this in three ways: 1. Student workshops and mentoring We develop, model and evaluate innovative practice to share with the sector. 2. Expert training and consultancy We give teachers and outreach professionals the skills and confidence to make long-term, systemic change. 3. Practical resources We turn insights from research and practice into accessible tools, ensuring we can reach out to the young people and their supporters who need our help most. All our work is driven by our guiding values; • High quality: Our impact is greatest when the quality of our work is highest. • Practical: Take-up of our support is greatest when it’s easy to implement. • Collaborative: Our mission is shared by a vast range of individuals and organisations – through supporting each other we can reach more individuals with higher quality interventions. • Evidence-led: The best solutions build on the greatest accumulation of insights.

My visit to✨All Saints Catholic School! ✨ Today I ran a workshop for year 9 girls on how health and fitness can boost personal and professional growth. I shared my journey of using swimming and gym sessions to develop key skills like leadership. I’m happy to have worked with Causeway Education and Sweaty Betty to deliver this inspiring session ! The young people were very keen to get involved. It’s great to see the flourishing ambition within young women in #BarkingandDagenham ! #youngpeople #healthandfitness #workshop #femaleempowerment

We loved working with Helena Keenan and Kimberly Jarrad to deliver two impactful The Sweaty Betty Foundation workshops for Year 9 and Year 10 girls at Graveney School. These sessions focused on the transformative role physical activity plays in wellbeing, skill development, and confidence-building. 🌟During the sessions, our fantastic volunteers shared their personal stories, inspiring the girls to write their own pledges for physical activity to achieve over the next three months. 🏃♀️ Globally, only 15% of teenage girls meet the recommended levels of physical activity. Puberty and its impact on confidence are the biggest barriers. That’s why we’re dedicated to addressing these challenges head-on. 📊 This term so far we’ve reached over 260 girls, highlighting how physical activity not only enhances wellbeing but also builds skills and fosters accomplishments - with a goal of inspiring girls from all backgrounds to see how physical activity can shape their futures and empower them to stay active for life. A huge thank you to our relatable and active role model volunteers who bring these sessions to life with their incredible energy and experiences! Yesterday I volunteered for The Sweaty Betty Foundation x Causeway Education at GRAVENEY TRUST - Graveney School, Franciscan Primary School & Tooting Primary School. I co-led a workshop to educate inactive girls in southwest London on the impact physical activity has had on my wellbeing, skill development, and career. As a chosen role model for the programme, I engaged students in discussions and activities to help them think about the benefits of physical activity on their own wellbeing, skills, and careers. 🌟I love the message this programme is channeling and I hope these workshops across London will change young girl’s attitudes towards physical activity for the better, and increase participation. We are really proud to have supported The Careers & Enterprise Company with the creation of these new resources, designed to support in upskilling parents and carers with knowledge of apprenticeships and technical education (ATE) routes. Explore the resources here 👉 https://lnkd.in/enP8c2nF
❌ Apprenticeships are only for those who aren't academic ❌ You can't get a degree through an apprenticeship ❌ An apprenticeship isn't a real job ❌ You can’t progress onto university with a T Level These are just some of the misconceptions that still exist around apprenticeships and technical pathways like T Levels and HTQs - if parents and carers believe them to be true, this can be a huge barrier to young people choosing these routes. We are excited to share a new suite of resources designed to support Careers Leaders and teaching staff to upskill parents with up to date knowledge about apprenticeship and technical education (ATE) routes to help tackle some of the misconceptions associated with these pathways and make ATE part of the conversation. National Apprenticeship Week is fast approaching (10-16 Feb) - How are you going to include parents and carers in your #careers activities across the week? ➡️ Explore the resources: https://bit.ly/4i70yQL 💡 Looking for more support with engaging parents and carers? 🎓 Addressing Undermatch in Higher Education: Read Our Latest Blog Post Last week we hosted a ‘lunch and learn’ event where we explored the issue of undermatch in higher education, a concerning trend amongst high-achieving students - especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds - choosing less competitive university courses. This can lead to lower academic outcomes, higher dropout rates and reduced earnings, perpetuating inequality. Our blog post dives deeper into this issue, summarizing the key findings from the webinar and outlining actionable strategies to address undermatch. These strategies, which we at Causeway Education are actively piloting, are designed to enhance access, support student decision-making, and empower institutions to drive change. 👉 Read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/eJnfgsYS If you’re an educator or institution looking to enhance outreach with research-backed tools, we’d love to hear from you! 📩 Contact our Director of Partnerships, Clare, at clare.addy@causeway.education to find out how you can get involved. #SocialMobility #HigherEducation #EquityInEducation #Undermatch #WideningParticipation
