🎓 Addressing Undermatch in Higher Education: Read Our Latest Blog Post Last week we hosted a ‘lunch and learn’ event where we explored the issue of undermatch in higher education, a concerning trend amongst high-achieving students - especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds - choosing less competitive university courses. This can lead to lower academic outcomes, higher dropout rates and reduced earnings, perpetuating inequality. Our blog post dives deeper into this issue, summarizing the key findings from the webinar and outlining actionable strategies to address undermatch. These strategies, which we at Causeway Education are actively piloting, are designed to enhance access, support student decision-making, and empower institutions to drive change. 👉 Read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/eJnfgsYS If you’re an educator or institution looking to enhance outreach with research-backed tools, we’d love to hear from you! 📩 Contact our Director of Partnerships, Clare, at clare.addy@causeway.education to find out how you can get involved. #SocialMobility #HigherEducation #EquityInEducation #Undermatch #WideningParticipation

Causeway's undermatch work is one of the main reasons I jumped at the chance to become a trustee. Too many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds end up on less competitive courses than they are qualified for, and end up with worse life outcomes as a result. I am pleased to share this story about the excellent discussion at yesterday's symposium on strategies to grow the international student population in PA. #AllanGoodman, CEO of the Institute for International Education, explained: "There's a lot of benefits to a state like Pennsylvania. You need a workforce that is highly educated in STEM fields. That's because there are fewer Americans that are studying those issues. There are also going to be fewer Americans in the 18-to-24-year-old cohort, and there are going to be fewer Americans still, because we're an aging population. So where are we going to get the next generation of scientists, if not from abroad? Because we just don't have the population." #globallehigh #lehighuniversity

I am grateful for the opportunity to write the below 2 page article for the International Admissions Bulletin about my family’s 30 month search for a school for our two Autistic and ADHD sons. A lot of privileges were stacked in my family’s favor during our search, and yet it was challenging to find #InternationalSchools our children could both receive high school diplomas from *and* that had capacity to accept them. It should not be so hard for families with neurodivergent and disabled children to find schools — that’s why our Board started Parents Alliance for Inclusion. If you are signing up for free membership to #ParentsAllianceForInclusion, please fill out the optional survey that gives us real data to discuss when we lobby the international school ecosystem for change. Our early data trend so far is: + 43% of parents surveyed have needed to change to a different international school — with 40% of 43% needing to change countries or go home — due to a lack of student support services at an international school where their children were enrolled; + 23% of parents surveyed homeschooled due to insufficient student support services at the international schools in their locale. We need more participants to have an actionable quantity of data. Please register to join and fill out the optional registration survey at: https://lnkd.in/dPh25bmz Link to article: https://lnkd.in/dx6KD5Ke + Special thanks to @AIELOC (DEIJ Leaders courses), Kevin Simpson (he/him) (Ed Branding course), Safe Passage Across Networks (SPAN) (Laws of Transition course), and Hannah Härtwich » Systems Mapper (Systems Mapping course). The courses in parentheses elevated thinking and structuring that added value to Parents Alliance for Inclusion. —— Original post from Parents Alliance For Inclusion in case this post is reshared (and the original post drops off): “30 Months to Find One Inclusive School” is out today and featured on the cover of this year’s International Admissions Bulletin.
