Key Highlights: ✨ From a pro-innovation stance to more structured oversight ✨ Landmark court decisions on AI patents ✨ Shifting political landscapes influencing tech policy Major Milestones: 1️⃣ February saw the government introduce five core principles for AI regulation, balancing innovation with responsible development. 2️⃣ The King's Speech in July marked a significant turn, with Labour proposing binding regulations on AI developers. 3️⃣ A groundbreaking Court of Appeal ruling in July challenged AI patent possibilities, bringing the UK more in line with European patent standards. Since 2022, Columbian nationals have been able to enter the UK without applying for a visa in advance. However, the UK Government recently published a statement of changes to the immigration rules, and it was announced that Colombian nationals travelling to the UK will require a visa. Amid Home Office concerns that Columbians are allegedly visiting the UK to work or claim asylum, the situation has been reversed and Columbian nationals must now get advanced permission to enter the UK.
