2024 was nothing short of amazing for Blusink - full of big wins and ocean-sized dreams! 🌊🚀 We kicked things off with a deployment in the #Maldives, followed by Blusink team members exploring new underwater sites in #Colombia and #Jordan. From there, it’s been a whirlwind of growth, innovation, and incredible milestones: 🌊 We were part of remove —thank you to the organisers (Hans Westerhof, Marian Krueger & team) for the amazing opportunity to grow alongside other inspiring startups! 📖 Featured by TNW and E+T Engineering and Tech Magazine (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)), spreading the word about our mission to merge technology with nature 🎤 Represented at The Economist Ocean Summit in Jordan, alongside global leaders tackling global ocean challenges. 🏗️ Joined Hub71 in Abu Dhabi with government funding to scale up our manufacturing operations—big things are happening in the region! 🎬 Attended our first film premiere for My Penguin Friend in Colombia—thank you Cine Colombia and Penguin Publishing Group for inviting us to celebrate this beautiful story. 🌿 Represented at #Biodiversity COP16 in Cali, Colombia, by our CEO Lorena Neira 🌊 Got the first field results on carbon quantification from our Madeira system in partnership with AMACO (Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR))—demonstrating that our technology captures carbon effectively in real-world environments, moving beyond lab scale. 👩🔬 Our Chief Marine Scientist Catalina Zuluaga Arias gave a talk for the Cámara de Comercio de Medellín, joined by our marine engineering partners at DeepCo - Underwater Technology - (Sergio Suarez). 🌏 Joined the Hatch Blue Accelerator in Singapore—thank you to the organisers (Wayne Murphy, Dylan Terry, Benedict Tan 陈勇安 & team) for such an impactful programme. 💰 Won two cash prizes from Sembcorp Industries Ltd in Vietnam, represented by COO Anjana Aravind and the Temasek Foundation in Japan, pitched by CGO Ellie Morris —what a back-to-back thrill! 🌍 Attended #ADFW in Abu Dhabi, connecting with leaders in sustainability in the region. 🏆 And to wrap it all up, we earned our second nomination to The Earthshot Prize—a huge honour we’re so grateful for. 2024 has been an unforgettable ride, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our incredible team, investors (Lifetime Ventures, Koshu K.), advisors (João Silva, Louisa Cilenti, Felipe Rodriguez Tamayo), partners, and community. Last week, less than one month into my new role, I had the privilege of presenting Blusink at the first ever WEAT challenge in Tokyo. Despite some serious jet lag, the incredible competition from others in our track and my general nerves at attending my first pitch competition, I'm pleased to say Blusink was awarded winner of the global liveability track 🥳 The judges said they loved Blusink because: 🪸 Our solution has multiple benefits - we restore marine biodiversity and also capture carbon 🌏 Rhodolith beds are found all around the world, so our solution isn't limited to a specific Geography 🐚 We don't rely on a single species, meaning that our solution doesn't risk ecosystem imbalance 🦀 Our technology is proven and we can deploy and validate relatively quickly, especially compared to more experimental technologies They also gave us some helpful pointers on where we should focus our efforts and attention next, and we're looking forward to learning more from the WEAT network. Thank you to the Temasek Foundation, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Government and everyone else involved in WEAT for providing us with this amazing opportunity 🙌🏻 We also want to say a huge well done to our competitors, who were genuinely awesome and inspiring! 🇸🇬🇻🇳 What an amazing two weeks for Blusink in Southeast Asia! We’re thrilled to announce that we brought home a prize from Sembcorp Industries Ltd at the Net Zero Challenge in #Vietnam! 🏆 The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of productivity as we continued to grow our presence in the region, connecting with key stakeholders and expanding our network. The Net Zero Challenge, organized by Temasek Foundation and Touchstone Partners in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Development Research and other partners, was an incredible platform to share ideas and showcase innovation. 🌊💡 The competition was filled with inspiring startups and founders driving scalable, impactful visions for a sustainable future. The energy and momentum left us excited and optimistic for what’s ahead.
