Three key reports have recently been published that feature the work of Health Innovation Manchester in advancing healthcare through innovation:
1. The King's Fund: NHS and Life Sciences Partnerships Report: This report, commissioned by the The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and conducted by The King’s Fund, highlights how collaborative projects between the NHS and the life sciences sector can improve patient care and drive innovation. A notable example included in the report is the involvement of Health Innovation Manchester in the STARRS-GM project, supporting improved asthma care in Greater Manchester by using data analytics and guided consultation software. This collaboration with AstraZeneca and LungHealth Ltd has shown promising results in managing asthma for high-risk patients.

2. Health Innovation Network 2023-24 Impact Report: As one of 15 Health Innovation Networks across the country, Health Innovation Manchester has contributed to the national impact of various programmes and initiatives, supporting the care of over 1.23 million patients. Economically, the networks leveraged £467 million to support innovators, creating and safeguarding over 1,300 jobs. Key health improvements include the Innovation for Healthcare Inequalities Programme (InHIP), which engaged 34,000 people from underserved populations, and a lipid management programme that prevented over 9,000 serious cardiovascular events. Safety interventions in maternity and neonatal care have saved nearly 1,200 babies' lives.

3. Health Innovation Network Innovation for Healthcare Inequalities Programme (InHIP) Report: The InHIP report focuses on addressing healthcare inequalities across England. Health Innovation Manchester played a crucial role in several initiatives, including paediatric asthma and smoking cessation. By identifying and treating asthma in children and supporting families to quit smoking, outcomes have been significantly improved in deprived areas. Projects tailored to community needs, such as providing FeNO testing and smoking cessation support, have demonstrated the power of local engagement and working with the community.
