Enjoy the latest travel news below from our BDM Ruve Naidoo: I journeyed to Hawke’s Bay to continue visiting ResBook’s ‘legacy’ clients who host some of the most bespoke accommodation experiences. The atmosphere in Napier’s art deco township and across the bay has returned to its charm after winning its battle with a cyclone last year. Tourists are expected to rediscover the sweeping hills and storybook towns as our hosts prepare for another successful summer. I was lucky enough to meet with Charlotte and Stephen Wilson at Greenhill Lodge, a property steeped in rich history, offering quiet luxury to its overnight guests or visitors who join the couple for one of their high teas, which are becoming renowned in the area. Millar Road's founder and owner, Gregory Collinge, gave me a tour of the property, which was purpose-built to showcase the local art scene while allowing guests to enjoy the estate's serene seclusion and local produce. Haumoana House and the villas feature eclectic artwork and panoramic views of the vineyard that stretch to the water's edge. I finished my first day with a trip to Breckenridge Lodge, where owner and chef Malcolm Redmond shared valuable insights into the luxury accommodation industry and the importance of building relationships to capture the interest of overseas markets. It was a real treat hearing about the curated guest experiences and the continued evolution of the lodge. Before boarding a plane back to ResBook HQ the next morning, I checked in with our friends at Black Barn Vineyards and Craggy Range Vineyards Ltd in Havelock North—must-see locations for wine connoisseurs.
