The Sports Law Association of Malaysia (SLAM) was formed with the purpose of having a professional body to promote ethical and professional standards of conduct of sports law practitioners in Malaysia, including the promotion of education in Sports Law & the resolution of sporting disputes. The body brings together athletes, sports administrators, lawyers, and governmental bodies and sports associations alike to navigate the intricacies of Sports Law and sporting disputes.
A. OUR VISION –
1. The philosophy of the Sports Law Association of Malaysia is to establish a professional body that can be utilised by and compliment sports law practitioners and other professional players as a communication and educational platform in order to inform the discourse on sports law in Malaysia. Further, we aim to align the Malaysian sports law and policy framework with that of other prominent jurisdictions and institutions.
2. SLAM stands for facilitating interaction between its members and sporting bodies and lawyers across the globe, creating a framework for deliberation on sports law and policy in Malaysia.
3. SLAM will actively promote the dissemination of legal education in the field of sports, in publishing articles, newsletters and journals for the benefit of its community of members.
B. OUR MISSION:
In seeking to bring the best practices in the world of sports law to Malaysia, our missions are:
1. To provide educational opportunities and disseminate data and information regarding specific areas of sports law.
2. To provide a forum for lawyers and other professional users in order to foster a continuous discussion regarding legal problems affecting sports law.
3. To promote and, where necessary, established rules of ethics for its members involved in sports law.
4. To promote and, where necessary, aid and assist sporting bodies in meeting global regulatory standards.
5. To promote an efficient system of sports dispute resolution in Malaysia by means of arbitration.
