With the recent northeast monsoon impacting several states in Malaysia particularly Kelantan, the Malaysian AEON Foundation through the AEON Bantu initiative, has mobilized flood relief aid to Machang, Kelantan. We are proud to share that the Foundation has assisted 500 families with essential homecare boxes.   Mr. Faizul Hamzah, the Foundation Committee Member and AEON Credit’s Chief Risk Officer along with volunteers from our Eastern Regional Offices collaborated with members of the 16th Royal Malay Regiment (Kem Desa Pahlawan). The team, led by Lieutenant Colonel Shahrul Nizam bin Matt, the Commanding Officer of the 16th RAMD, representing the Commander of the 8th Brigade in this effort.   A total of 500 families at six temporary flood relief centers in Machang, Kelantan, received homecare boxes packed by ACSM volunteers in September 2024 which were distributed with the help of the army. These boxes included dry food, personal hygiene products and blankets.   Additionally, our support extended to 35 army personnel in Kelantan affected by the floods and 26 AEON Group employees.   On behalf of the Company, our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the floods.

We’re thrilled to announce that the 10,000 trees planted in Kinta Nature Park under AEON Credit Biodiversity Afforestation project, including the 2,000 trees planted by our amazing volunteers during the launch in May 2024, are growing well! Recently, our CSR team along with FRIM Incorporated and Perak State Park Corporation, visited the site to check on the progress. We’re delighted to report that over 99% of the trees plants have survived and are now undergoing a maintenance process that will continue for the next 36 months. This biodiversity afforestation initiative aims to offset an estimated 1,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually from AEON Credit’s nationwide electricity and fuel consumption for at least the next 20 years. We’re also in the final stages of engaging a validation and verification body to certify the carbon sink created by these trees. If you ever find yourself in Perak, we invite you to visit your trees and do say hello to them. Later, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the vibrant birdlife that calls Kinta Nature Park as their home. Your contribution is making a real difference!

We are thrilled to share the success of Southern Regional Office (SRO) recent blood donation drive organized in collaboration with Hospital Sultan Ismail Bloodbank Center. Held at the SRO Training Room, City Square, this event saw our volunteers come together with other building tenants to donate 60 blood pints! A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers and donors for your unwavering support and dedication. Your contributions are truly life-saving and make a significant impact on our healthcare initiatives. To date, our incredible AEON Credit volunteers’ blood donation campaign along with local bloodbank centers, has donated a remarkable 241 pints of blood nationwide. Let’s keep this momentum going and continue to support these vital causes. Together, we can make a difference!

SpoGomi, a blend of SPO (Sports) and GOMI (Trash in Japanese), is an innovative sport that has been captivating Japan since 2008. This unique competition challenges teams to collect garbage and litter within a set time and area, turning environmental cleanup into an exciting race. The event's objective is to gather as much recyclable waste as possible such as plastics, aluminum, glass, and paper to earn points. The more you collect, the higher you score! Last Saturday, two dedicated volunteer teams of six from AEON Credit, led by our Executive Director; Ms. Lee Tyan Jen and Chief Risk Officer; Mr. Faizul Hamzah joined 130 participants in teams of three or five. Together, they collected and removed rubbish at MRT Ampang Park Urban Skate Park and the surrounding TAPAK Urban Food Truck area on Jalan Ampang. By the end of the event, an impressive 73 kg of rubbish had been collected. AEON BiG emerged victorious, clinching the Grand Prize with the highest score. A HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE to all the volunteers and the organizing committee for making this event a resounding success! FUN FACTS SpoGomi has even reached the global stage with its own World Cup which was held in November 2023 in Tokyo, Japan. Great Britain took home the inaugural championship and Malaysia proudly sent a team to compete.

The AEON Credit Nationwide Annual Coastal Clean-up Program recently concluded at Tanjung Balau, Johor. This event saw 100 volunteers from the Southern Regional Office, KEJORA and Universiti Teknologi MARA students, representing Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa, come together to remove 0.64 tonnes of waste from a 1.2 km stretch of coastline. Since 26th September 2024, clean-ups at Pulau Tioman, Pantai Bersih and Pantai Kampung Santubong have collectively removed 2.41 tonnes of waste, including 0.9 tonnes of recyclables where it is mostly of plastic waste. Despite not reaching our 4.5-tonne target, the dedication of our volunteers has made a significant impact. Plastic waste poses a severe threat to our coastal ecosystems. It harms marine life, disrupts habitats, and can take hundreds of years to decompose. Our clean-up efforts not only remove this harmful waste but also raise awareness about the importance of reducing plastic use and promoting recycling especially to the university students. A heartfelt THANK YOU to SRO volunteers including those from ERO, NRO and EMRO for your effort to support this program. This Deepavali, our AEON Credit family came together to spread joy and hope to 241 children and 30 families from low-income communities. Through the AEON Mesra Deepavali program, we brought smiles and festive cheer to those who need it most. Our heartfelt thank you goes out to the 33 dedicated volunteers from our Head Office and Regional Offices who made this possible. Your efforts during the programme at selected AEON Malls and AEON BIG outlets across six locations have truly made a difference.   The main celebration at AEON Mall Seremban 2 and Sri Balathandayuthapani Temple in Seremban was a beautiful reminder of the power of community. It was graced by the presence of the Foundation’s President, Datuk Iskandar Sarudin; the Foundation’s Secretary, Dr. Kasuma Satria; the Foundation’s Treasurer, Mr. Tsugutoshi Seko; and AEON Group Senior Management, including Mr. G. As a continuation of the program that kicked off on 26 September 2024 at Pulau Tioman, 80 AEON Credit volunteers from the Northern Regional Office and East Malaysia Regional Office successfully removed 1.3 tonnes of rubbish from Pantai Bersih, Pulau Pinang and Pantai Kampung Santubong, Sarawak. 🌊 To date, the AEON Credit Annual Coastal Clean-up Program has removed a total of 1.8 tonnes of rubbish, with 0.7 tonnes being recyclable waste. ♻️ The programme, supported by the Seberang Perai City Council, Kuching South City Hall, Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa, Universiti Teknologi MARA and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, also saw participation from an additional 130 external volunteers. The final location of the programme will be at Tanjung Balau, organized by the Southern Regional Office with support from the South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA), Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, on 26 October 2024. Held at the NRO Training Room, this event brought together our volunteers, resulting in the donation of 39 pints of blood!
