It was established on 3 July 1993 pursuant to the provisions of the 1987 Philippine Constitution and the New Central Bank Act of 1993, which granted the Bank fiscal and administrative autonomy from the National Government. Our Vision The BSP aims to be recognized globally as the monetary authority and primary financial system supervisor that supports a strong economy and promotes a high quality of life for all Filipinos. Our Mission To promote and maintain price stability, a strong financial system, and a safe and efficient payments and settlements system conducive to a sustainable and inclusive growth of the economy.

  • #BSPbayanihan In celebration of the BSP's 75th anniversary, the BSP Legazpi Branch, in collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Employees Association, Inc., organized Project Shoebox in Morocborocan, Masbate, reflecting the institution’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves. Project Shoebox is a community outreach initiative aimed at providing essential items to underserved or marginalized groups. The project involved packing shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene kits, and other necessities and distributing them to children, students, or families in need. #BSP #BSPupdates

  • #BSPbayanihan As part of the BSP’s 75th-anniversary celebration, the BSP San Fernando (Pampanga) Branch extended its support to various communities in the area through meaningful initiatives. The branch donated school supplies to students in Masantol, Pampanga, and provided a septic tank to an Aeta community in Bamban, Tarlac. In addition, the branch conducted a free circumcision program for an Aeta community in Capas, Tarlac. #BSP #BSPUpdates

  • #ICYMI President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. received the “First Philippine Polymer Banknote Series” from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. during a ceremony in Malacañang on 19 December 2024. The polymer series is composed of the 1000-piso polymer banknote, which was introduced in April 2022; as well as new polymer denominations: 500-, 100-, and 50-piso.   • IN PHOTOS: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) participated in the 2024 National Exports’ Week “Export Enablers’ Exhibit” on 05 December 2024 in Pasay City. The annual event is a flagship activity of the Department of Trade and Industry. The BSP plays a key role in the export industry by a) implementing appropriate programs and policies in the areas of money, banking, and credit; b) ensuring micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other stakeholders have access to credit and financial products; and c) promoting policies/programs as well as foreign exchange regulations that support economic growth and promote capital market development. Themed “Sustainability: Shaping the Future of Philippine Exports,” the Export Enablers’ recognizes the contributions of export enablers, including government agencies, financing institutions, startups, and other entities that facilitate trade and exports for the country.   • IN PHOTOS: #ICYMI The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) hosted the 21st Technical Meeting of Mints in ASEAN (TEMAN) Conference from 17 to 20 November 2024 in Mactan, Cebu. Themed Future-Proofing the Coin Industry: Building Resilience and Sustainability in Coin Minting, this year’s TEMAN emphasized the need to proactively address the challenges of the minting industry to ensure its long-term viability. In his keynote, Deputy Governor and head of the BSP’s delegation to TEMAN Mamerto E. Tangonan said: “By combining our technical expertise and innovative approaches, we can create a blueprint for a sustainable future that is as solid and enduring as the coins we produce.” The BSP is a founding member of the TEMAN, a forum on coin and medal production established in 1982 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Besides the Philippines, other member countries include Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The TEMAN Conference is held biennially, with Indonesia’s Perum Peruri as the next host. #BSPUpdates #BSP
