🌿 What does it take to make landscape initiatives adaptive and effective? The answer lies in #collaboration and a shared vision. With increasing interest in landscape-scale solutions, leading landscape practitioners have come together to define 'Core Criteria for Mature Landscape Initiatives'. These criteria serve as: ✅ A roadmap to help new and existing initiatives strengthen their impact. ✅ A benchmark to assess maturity, ensuring landscapes are more resilient, attractive to investors, and better positioned for long-term sustainability. At Earthworm Foundation, we were honoured to contribute to this collective effort—a chance to listen, share, and align with our peers. These criteria provide a clear framework to guide our work and embed responsible production practices within landscapes. 🌱 Since beginning our landscape journey in 2021, we’ve seen that each landscape follows its own unique path. Today, our portfolio reflects a mix of emerging and established projects, each rooted in collaboration with local stakeholders (explore our work here: https://lnkd.in/dqvncCn7). We see this paper as a tool to strengthen our impact, design and adapt projects courageously, and ensure landscapes can thrive for generations to come. 🤝 Learn more about this collective vision: Core Criteria for Mature Landscape Initiatives: https://lnkd.in/gm4jXWby #CollectiveAction #ResponsibleSourcing #LandscapesApproach Giacomo Tabacco Jonathan Maerker Marianne Martinet

Imagine all the people, living life in harmony. Imagine, by 2050, this dream has become reality. It’s a world where businesses prioritise climate commitments, where supply chains are transparent, raw materials are responsibly sourced, and where farmers, workers, and communities are supported. It’s a world built on the values of trust, collaboration, and care for the planet we all share. In this future, the earthworm—a humble yet vital creature—represents the quiet but powerful work that makes this vision possible. It symbolises the transformative efforts of individuals and organisations that have worked tirelessly to restore balance. From the fields to the boardrooms, a culture of accountability has risen. Governments and businesses act beyond regulations to protect ecosystems. Companies act with integrity, ensuring their products are responsibly sourced. Farmers receive fair wages, and their land is cared for as a source of life for generations to come. At Earthworm Foundation, this vision reflects everything we have stood for over the past 25 years: bridging the gap between people and the planet, creating connections that foster trust, and proving that sustainable solutions are achievable when we work together. The year 2050 is not a distant dream. The year 2050 is a culmination of the choices we make today. A future where the products we consume leave no trail of exploitation. A future where thriving communities and healthy ecosystems are the norm, not the exception. This is a world where the earthworm still quietly nurtures life but no longer works alone. Every field tilled, every seed planted, and every product created tells a story of fairness, sustainability, and hope. Let this vision inspire you to act today for a brighter tomorrow. 🔮 Read our final 25th-anniversary newsletter here today - A vision for the Future : https://lnkd.in/dBtY9Ggr 🔮

🌱 420 farmers and counting! The #Transitions programme is laying the groundwork for 1,000 farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture by 2026, breaking down financial and technical barriers to progress. Since its launch, the momentum has been incredible, with farmers actively contributing to healthier soils, flourishing biodiversity, and significant progress toward climate resilience. Earlier this month, at the BrauBeviale in Nuremberg, one of the leading trade fairs for the global beverage industry, we shared this journey during a round table hosted by Malteurop on scaling #regenerativeagriculture and supporting corporate sustainability goals like #SBTi (The Science Based Targets initiative). Led by Groupe VIVESCIA and supported by Earthworm Foundation, Transitions represents a unique collaboration between upstream and downstream players. This practical, scalable approach connects farmers' needs with corporate sustainability commitments, delivering benefits across the board: stronger livelihoods, improved biodiversity, healthier soils, and climate resilience. 🚀 We believe this model has the potential to inspire more partnerships and help regenerative agriculture reach the scale it needs. Thank you to Malteurop, VIVESCIA, and all involved in driving this forward! Coline Decourcelle, Bastien SACHET, Laurence Enault, Julien ROY, Melissa Comellas, Sébastien Frère Anne-Sophie Leroy

🌱 If you're wondering why Earthworm Foundation is so passionate about #soil, this Forest Builders Podcast episode is a great place to start. 🎙️ Our CEO, Bastien SACHET shares why working with large corporations can be part of the solution to address #deforestation, as #EarthwormTurns25, why the humble earthworm became our muse, how to align your #career with your care for nature and so much more🌿 🎧 Listen now: Spotify https://lnkd.in/gBvvan3P Apple https://lnkd.in/gsA37kqn Happy #WorldSoilDay! Many thanks for the interview Khanh-Linh Lê.
Today is #worldsoilday, and hopefully more and more people will care. Earthworm pictures are maybe flooding your newsfeed, and if you don't know why this episode is a good place where to start. 🎙️In today’s episode of Forest Builders Podcast, Bastien SACHET tells us why Earthworm Foundation choses to see large corporations not only as problems, but also as unmissable parts of the solutions. It takes a singular point of view to decide to rename your organization Earthworm. But then again Bastien is not your usual activist, and Earthworm is not your usual non-profit organization for nature. 🫧 Is there still hope working with large corporations to fight against deforestation or will it forever remain greenwashing blah blah? 🪱 Why would you chose the earthworm as your muse? ⏰ If you are hitting your 30s and feel thoroughly misaligned between the nature of your work and your care for nature, is it too late ? 🎧 Listen and find out here on all major podcast broadcasting platforms Apple https://lnkd.in/gsA37kqn Spotify https://lnkd.in/gBvvan3P Thank you Bastien for sharing your thoughts on being a forest builder, and thank you Luc for connecting us! If like Luc, you know somebody who does something for our forests with a story that deserves to be told, DM me😊 Forest Builders is a podcast bringing to you the stories of people who dedicate their work to the preservation of our forests, in their very own way. I host this podcast hoping that their stories inspire you as much as they inspired me! #sustainability #podcast #forests #soils #supplychain Fabien Girard Karl Yen Quek Jotica Sehgal

This #WorldSoilsDay, we’re shining a light on #soil—the foundation of our food systems and the ecosystems that support life. Maintaining healthy soils is vital to counteract the growing challenges we face with unpredictable climate, yet studies show that up to 70% of topsoil faces degradation in Europe. This impacts food production, biodiversity, and climate resilience. For example, Swiss farmers recently experienced one of their most challenging wheat harvest years in 35 years (source: srf.ch). 👨🌾 In Switzerland, the Living Soils initiative has spent the past year working alongside a group of dedicated farmers to explore regenerative agriculture practices in the Coop supply chain with the support of Eisberg and Hilcona AG. This collective effort focuses on addressing climate challenges by improving soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and safeguarding water quality. 🚜🌾The video features the voices of some pilot farmers and partners captured during a recent field training day. Their experiences highlight how healthier soils can pave the way for securing food for future generations, building resilience to climate shocks, and nurturing thriving ecosystems. 🤝 This work wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration of partners like the Pictet Group Foundation and the Coop Sustainability Fund. While there’s still much to learn, this initiative reflects the potential of collective action in shaping a sustainable future. 🎥 Watch the FULL VIDEO on YouTube to hear their stories here: https://lnkd.in/d9CKSqna 🔶 Enjoy the trailer below! How Did We Bring Happiness to Farmer Konaté Ibrahima? Congratulations to the pladis team for their inspiring work in Côte d’Ivoire! Supporting farming communities and promoting sustainable practices are key to building a brighter future. This agroforestry and regenerative agriculture initiative, developed in partnership with Earthworm Foundation, is a powerful example of how we can create value not only for our industry but also for farmers like Konate Ibrahima and their communities. Through these efforts, pladis demonstrates a strong commitment to global sustainability goals while strengthening its partnerships with those at the very heart of our value chain. I am proud to see such impactful projects that contribute to local livelihoods, environmental health, and food security. Well done to everyone involved in this remarkable journey. Together, we can achieve more for our planet and the people we serve. Salman Amin pladis Global #Sustainability #Agroforestry #pladis #MakeHappyBeHappy
Over the past four years, pladis has been proud to fund collective action transformation projects in Côte d'Ivoire, one of the world's largest cocoa-producing countries, and where a large percentage of the cacao beans are sourced from in the chocolate and biscuit industry. These plans have included working with farmers like Konate Ibrahima on agroforestry initiatives and regenerative agriculture practices that can lead to farmers improving the health of their farms, producing more cacao and earning more to support their livelihoods in line with our global commitment to support the farming communities that are foundational to our biscuits, snacks and chocolates. With the support of our partners at Earthworm Foundation and Earthworm Foundation Africa, Mr. Ibrahima has begun planting complementary trees and crops such as oil palm, maize and sweet potatoes, improving soil fertility for his cacao farm as well as ensuring local food security in his community – a strong case study showing the importance of farm diversification in regenerative agriculture. Earthworm provides personalised technical advice and access to quality seeds via the National Centre for Agronomic Research (CNRA) to many farmers like Mr. Ibrahima, who can now create long term plans for his farm and community with the support of partners like pladis. #Onepladis #RegenerativeAgriculture #Sustainability
