Australian live rock lobsters will finally resume their journey from pristine Australian waters to one of the industry’s most valuable markets – China. 🦞🇨🇳 On 20 December 2024, China notified Australia that full resumption of live rock lobster trade can recommence effective immediately. This is a major win for the industry and is the result of hard work and advocacy by industry and government – including the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - over several years. Austrade has worked with Australia’s live rock lobster exporters for many years and maintained ongoing relationships with key buyers and distributors. Austrade is ready to support exporters to re-engage with the China market. Prior to the introduction of impediments in late 2020, China was Australia’s most valuable export market for Australian live rock lobster, worth around $711 million at its peak in 2019 (accounting for 96% of all Australian rock lobster exports). Our exporters will again have full access to this important market, while Chinese consumers enjoy the benefits from access to safe, high-quality Australian live rock lobster - in time for Lunar New Year. So what’s next? Austrade will continue to support Australian exporters by promoting Australian live rock lobster in China, providing market insights to industry, and connecting exporters with Chinese importers. Did you know that there are 337 million Gen Zs in India? This growing demographic represents a large consumer base for tech products – and a massive tech savvy, digital-native talent pool for Australian digital and tech businesses setting up operations in India. 👩💻 Over the past three weeks, 35 critical and enabling technology exporters and industry members across the country participated in our India Market Update Roadshow 2024. Participants met in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth for sessions on the opportunity for Australian tech exporters in India, with bespoke sessions focused on FinTech, AI, MedTech and Cybersecurity. Abdul Ekram, Austrade’s Trade Commissioner in Chennai hosted these sessions and shared his on-the-ground insights about India’s booming market and growth drivers, supportive government policies and the significant opportunities for Australian tech exporters. Participants were also joined by representatives from Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, who shared updates on the interim Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (#ECTA) and provided insight into the negotiation stage of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). ✍️ The biggest take way from the sessions – digital dominance is going to accelerate India’s rise as the third largest economy by 2030 and Australian niche technologies and solutions have a role to play in India’s digitization. A big thank you goes out to our fantastic panelists from FootprintLab, Annalise.ai, #Anstel, Connect2MyDoctor by Neev Tech Labs, Next XR Group (formerly VR AR Solutions Australia), Red Piranha, Equinox Ventures, and Proteomics International who shared their success stories, candid advice, and tips on how to thrive in the Indian market.📈 Learn how Austrade can help you grow your exports to India and the world: https://ow.ly/n09350Uqort #IndiaMarketUpdateRoadshow #AIBX #AustraliaIndiaBusinessExchange #Export 👏An additional thanks to our colleagues at Investment NSW, Global Victoria and Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, WA.
