Every child is unique, and deserves the right care and attention to their learning needs. We are so proud to be a part of the Lai Yu Hua Kindness Youth Lit Fund initiative through our VoLKs, Laurence Putra Franslay, Dr Alicia Altorfer-Ong, Ph.D. and Dr Geraldine Tan. With synergy, kinship and mindset, this powerful initiative aims to make learning accessible and meaningful for these children. At the Singapore Kindness Movement, we believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Let us continue to empower our youth and give them as much opportunity as possible to build a brighter tomorrow. #begreatersg #akinderyouastrongerus
At Ray of Hope, we understand the unique challenges faced by children with learning disabilities, especially those from low-income families. This is why we’re launching The Lai Yu Hua Kindness Youth Lit Fund, seeded by the generosity of Laurence Putra Franslay and in collaboration with our first partner, 3Pumpkins’ Tak Takut Kids Club (TTKC), to provide crucial support to children in Boon Lay. Research shows that children from low-income families are twice as likely to face learning challenges like dyslexia and ADHD, often due to limited access to early diagnosis and intervention. Sadly, many are diagnosed later, after years of struggling in school. While schools offer some support, it’s often not enough, leaving children lagging behind their peers. The Lai Yu Hua Kindness Youth Lit Fund will fill these gaps by providing personalised therapies like speech, occupational, and behavioural, tailored to each child’s specific needs. This initiative is made possible by Singapore’s Voices of Loving Kindness (VoLK), including Dr Geraldine Tan, Dr Alicia Altorfer-Ong, Ph.D., and Laurence, all working to empower children to overcome their challenges, build confidence, and thrive in school. As the fund administrator, Ray of Hope’s role is to connect the right resources with the children who need them most. We’re also grateful to our partner clinics, Leapfrogs Therapy Centre and The Therapy Room, who have joined us in this mission, making therapy accessible and impactful for each child. 🇸🇬 Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Culture, Community & Youth, Board Member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC
He is Wan of a Kind. Dr. William Wan served at Singapore Kindness Movement for 12 years. 11 as its General Secretary. He’s an inspiration to all of us. At 77, he remains an inspiration to so many of us. He has returned to legal practice and continues to preach as an ordained pastor. I’ve known Dr. Wan for many years, even before I entered public office. I consider him a friend and a mentor. Today, we hosted a lunch in appreciation of his work and dedication towards building a kinder Singapore. We have a long way to go, but our movement has made great strides thanks to his leadership. Thank you Dr. Wan, for showing us the way, and exemplifying kindness to us all. Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY)

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rosie Ching and Singapore Management University for inviting SKM Executive Director, Michelle Tay, to be part of the Waterloo Half-Term Pow Wow! We were delighted to be part of this insightful event, where students shared their research on the cleanliness and hygiene of public toilets in Singapore. At SKM, we believe that being considerate and mindful of public spaces is an essential part of gracious living. Clean, well-maintained spaces show respect for others, and these student findings are a great reminder that everyone has a part to play in contributing to a more considerate community. We hope that through this project, more individuals will be inspired to take action and help build a kinder, more considerate community for everyone. #BeGreaterSG

Think outside the box (and inside the shorts!) as we kick off this year's Be Greater campaign, celebrating kindness in unexpected ways, that might have just stopped you SHORT – pun intended. We would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and interest in our recent PR stunt! We went for a playful, attention-grabbing approach, and we're glad it got you curious. Our aim was to capture your imagination and start a conversation. This reminds us that beauty truly lies in the eye of the beholder, and we took a fourth-wall-breaking approach to incite audiences to reflect on what it means to practise graciousness in online discourse. We are thrilled to introduce Shorts³, a collection of three heartfelt short films inspired by the unique style of Wes Anderson. These films highlight the power of kindness in everyday life, and how being a good neighbour is easier than you think. Starring a fantastic ensemble cast—Benjamin Kheng, Ebi Shankara, Tommy Wong, Shye, Farah Lola, Bridget Fernandez—the series artistically combines storytelling and social commentary, weaving important messages into the adventures of our characters. These films serve as a reminder of how important it is to foster harmony, connect with those around us, and recognise the contributions of our diverse community. You can watch these stories celebrating the vibrant fabric of our society right now on https://bit.ly/skm_shorts. Let’s Be Greater. #BeGreaterSG #KindnessSG #Shorts3
