🚀 Following the momentum from our first Innovation Roundtable, we had the pleasure of hosting Fifth Wall’s CEO and CIO, Brendan Wallace, alongside Yvonne Voon, for another session at our BCA Braddell Campus. The session was led by Teck Thai Heng and supported by Ivan Lim, along with industry reps, including Tiong Yong (Chip Eng Seng (CES) Group), Austyn Yong, CFA (Woh Hup (Private) Limited), Muhd Khalil Shaiful Bahari (Boustead Projects Limited), Luke Wu (The GEAR), Jessie Tang (Teambuild Construction Group), Han Ren (Soilbuild Group Holdings Ltd), and Andrew Shuttleworth & Ryuji Kibayashi from Obayashi Construction-Tech Lab Singapore. The aim of the second roundtable was to explore opportunities to accelerate the adoption of Innovation & Technology (I&T) in the Built Environment while gaining insights into global and local I&T trends. Here are key insights from the discussions: 🔍 Cost vs Value: Firms must transition from solely assessing the cost of solutions to prioritizing their value. 📊 Demand Aggregation: To address uncertainties in initial investments, stakeholders should aggregate demand across multiple projects and partners, maximizing investments for greater overall impact. 💡 Adopting New Solutions: Implementing new solutions requires significant investment and commitment. Solution providers must demonstrate their ability to support clients throughout the entire process—not just during the initial stages but also through implementation and beyond. 🔗 Simplicity in Integration: Successful integrations prioritize simplicity. Solutions that fit seamlessly into existing workflows are more likely to be adopted quickly, resulting in effective outcomes. 📈 Harnessing Digital Data: Digitalization should be viewed as a means to achieve strategic goals. Companies must develop effective strategies to utilize the vast amounts of data they collect in an interoperable manner. By leveraging this data, organizations can unlock valuable insights that enhance operational efficiency and inform better decision-making. 🚫 Shiny New Toy Syndrome: While staying ahead of tech trends is vital, firms must assess the practicality and long-term value of innovations within existing frameworks to make strategic investments.
