📃 Our Summit Report is Online! 🌏 Our inaugural APAC Liver Disease Alliance Summit, held in Bangkok on October 1, 2024, took bold steps toward eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030 in APAC. It brought together health ministries and policymakers from the region, alongside global philanthropic funders, international organizations, clinicians, academics, and patient advocates. The Summit’s post-event report is now available and highlights 3 key actions: 1️⃣ National governments should integrate hepatitis programs into universal health coverage (UHC) systems funded by national payors, and include hepatitis testing and treatment as part of routine healthcare to ensure comprehensive patient coverage and access. 2️⃣ Policymakers should demonstrate strong political will by investing in hepatitis elimination efforts and building multi-stakeholder partnerships. This includes securing early buy-in from decision-makers, adopting effective strategies, and sharing best practices among allies. 3️⃣ Community representatives should share patient stories to highlight the impact of hepatitis and drive engagement from industry representatives, policymakers, and technical advisors. Meanwhile, stakeholders should leverage data to emphasize the urgency, improve policy decisions, and foster collaboration. 📖 Read the full post-event report and watch the recording on our website ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dY3-BXwZ 🙏 Thank you to all the Summit participants for joining our event and sharing invaluable insights, experiences, and expertise. Your contributions are essential to advancing our shared goal of hepatitis elimination by 2030. 🤝 If you want to join future events with the APAC Liver Disease Alliance or are interested in collaborating with us, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@apacliverdiseasealliance.org and roberta.sarno@dhealth.consulting. 🏥 Advancing HCC Surveillance and Management: Key Outcomes from the HCC APAC Policy Forum The APAC Liver Disease Alliance, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, recently hosted a closed-door HCC APAC Policy Forum. The event brought together influential government officials, health leaders and patient advocacy groups from 8 APAC healthcare systems to discuss strategies to improve HCC surveillance, early detection, and treatment access across the Asia-Pacific region. Through collaborative discussions, participants explored actionable steps to co-create robust HCC surveillance and management programs in their countries. We are thrilled to see such a strong commitment to shaping the future of liver cancer care in the region. But this is just the beginning. We will soon be announcing the next steps of this important initiative, as we continue to drive change and support the shared goal of improving liver health for all. Optimizing the Hepatitis Care Journey: A Call to Action! 💪 🌍 In the healthcare landscape, we often overlook the most crucial voice: the patient. For people living with hepatitis, this neglect can result in lost opportunities for care and support. It is time to shift this narrative and prioritise patient voices! We’re thrilled to announce our latest thought leadership article, co-authored by Dee Lee and Dianne De Silva, which delves into the critical importance of patient centricity in hepatitis care. The article spotlights 3 key recommendations that prioritise patient-centricity and optimize the hepatitis journey: 1️⃣ Effective Communication: Provide accessible updates, educational resources and personalised support to empower individuals with knowledge about viral hepatitis. This approach will guide them toward testing and facilitate their linkage to appropriate care. 2️⃣ Incorporating Feedback: Develop policies that integrate patients’ lived experiences, identify gaps and barriers to enhance national hepatitis responses adapted to evolving patient needs, and improve the quality of care. 3️⃣ Empowering People Living with Hepatitis: Transform people living with hepatitis from passive recipients to active participants in their care and treatment decisions. This fosters trust and enhances health management and outcomes. 📖 Check out the full article on our website: https://lnkd.in/dtnCrTR2 The APAC Liver Disease Alliance Hepatitis Summit, “Hep-free: Eliminating Asia’s Silent Public Health Threat by 2030,” took place on October 1, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand.
