𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲. As is the case across the globe, alarm bells are ringing in Belgium: an aging population, workforce shortages, and fragile hospital finances threaten the future of our healthcare system. We contributed our icometrix expertise and insights to this white paper by Belgian Association Hospital Managers, PwC, GE HealthCare, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Roche, LynxCare, Abbott, Becton Dickenson, MercurHosp ASBL, and EHPPA - European Health Public Procurement Alliance. Our collaboration with UZ Brussel and GE HealthCare is used as a case study where digital solutions can address two critical fronts: (1) 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 with AI-powered tools for clinical decision-making, (2) 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 to manage their disease and receive optimal treatment actively. The case study highlights three essential ways AI and digital health can optimize care delivery: 🟢 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 with AI-based solutions that reliably detect and quantify disease activity on brain MRI scans. These significantly reduce costs and the societal burden of disease. 🟢 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 through digital tools that close the information gap between annual neurology visits. 🟢 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 via dedicated knowledge centers and medical apps that improve health literacy and enable individuals to manage their disease actively. 🇯🇵 🧠 🇯🇵We are proud to announce that our latest solution, #icobrain aria, which supports the safe treatment of Alzheimer's disease, is now available in the Japanese market with a PMDA registration! This is an important milestone as nearly 30% of the Japanese population (36 million people) is 65 years old or older. The prevalence of dementia in this population is expected to exceed 25%.
