  • For Toyosi Craig, Specialist Energy Data and Reporting, who was born and raised in Nigeria, many of the everyday things we take for granted were unimaginable. But despite the challenges he faced, Toyosi excelled at school and eventually went to university to study Mechanical Engineering. But he admits that it wouldn’t have been possible without considerable sacrifice. He said: “My parents, my family, they all came together for me to be successful.” Since joining Roy Hill, Toyosi – who recently became President of the African Professionals of Australia (WA) – has made some significant contributions to our energy reporting. He added: “My team is brilliant, supportive, and genuine. I’ve also enjoyed the collaboration across other teams, which has made this past year fantastic. Roy Hill feels like home.” #RoyHill

The Newman Community Christmas Party was an incredible success, marked by the distribution of nearly 180 gifts, which brought joy to over 180 children and young people. The swimming pool premises were alive with the excitement of parents and children, and the atmosphere was filled with happiness and cheer, especially with the special appearance of Santa Claus. Aimable Ndayieye, PAMS’ Director of Community Health Program shares, “It was deeply heartwarming to witness the glowing faces of children as they received their Christmas gifts, some for the very first time in their lives. Moments like these truly capture the spirit of the season.” One of the standout highlights of the day was the dedication of our health team: Dr. Sue, Nurse Zoe, and CHN Holli who conducted 10 full health checks during the event. Their commitment is part of a broader effort that has seen 25 comprehensive health checks and referrals completed just this week, an outstanding achievement. A particularly touching moment was captured in a photograph showing Dr. Sue measuring a child, assisted by the child’s empowered and smiling father. Seeing Martu men actively involved in their children’s health is truly inspiring and sets a wonderful example. The event also featured food for everyone, music, swimming, basketball, and a variety of fun activities for kids, ensuring there was something for all to enjoy. This success would not have been possible without the generous contributions and support of our funders, especially the Telethon Kids Institute and partners: the Shire of East Pilbara, Roy Hill, The Y, the Newman Youth Centre, Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ), and Pilbara EPIS, whose elders brought so much joy to the little ones.

  • We were proud to support the 2024 Hancock Prospecting Pilbara Swimming Championships held recently in Karratha. The event brought together swimmers from across the Northwest to compete and celebrate their love for swimming. Through the generosity of our Executive Chairman, Mrs Gina Rinehart AO, Roy Hill secured three-time Olympian and Paris Gold medallist Brianna Throssell to attend the event. Brianna was on hand to mentor swimmers, with her presence at the championships not only motivated the swimmers but also brought a sense of excitement and prestige to the event. Brianna also signed autographs and allowed the kids to hold her Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games Gold Medal, creating lasting memories for everyone involved. The championships featured competitive races, community activities, and opportunities for swimmers across the Pilbara to connect, making it a successful event for all involved. #RoyHill #SwimmingChampionships #HancockProspecting #PilbaraSwimming

The Hanrine Foundation has proudly launched the Hanrine Smiles 😁 initiative in partnership with the UWA Dental School. Over the next three years, this transformative program will deliver vital dental care and oral health education in the Pilbara. As part of UWA's rural and remote placements, final-year dental students, supervised by experienced dentists, will conduct screenings in select schools. Children needing further care will be identified for follow up treatment with local Aboriginal Medical Services. The Hanrine Foundation has collaborated with a wide Pilbara network to ensure the best chance for timely treatment is received. Hanrine Smiles is about more than just dental services. It's about building trust, improving access to care, and equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools to maintain long-term oral health. For the dental students, it offers invaluable frontline experience, preparing the next generation of dentists to make a meaningful impact in rural and remote areas of Western Australia.   At the Hanrine Foundation, we’re proud to support even brighter, healthier, confident smiles in the Pilbara.    FIRST group image: Dr Jilen Patel (Senior Lecturer UWA Dental School HanRoy) Professor Anthonappa (Dean of UWA Dental School), Sanjiv Manchanda (CEO HanRoy, Chair of the Hanrine Foundation), Tony Pilbrow (Director Branch Operations Hitachi, Chair of Health working group Hanrine Foundation) SECOND group image: Sanjiv Manchanda (Chair of the Hanrine Foundation) Andrew Pickford, Danielle van Kampen, Jyoti Arora (Hanrine Foundation Secretariat), Mitchell Wells, Genevieve Glenister, Tony Pilbrow, Hugh Dawkins (Hanrine Foundation Health Working Group Members) #HanrineFoundation #UWADentalSchool #Hanroy #Atlas #RoyHill #Hitachi #Health #DentalHealth

Stepping out to dance Charlotte Woods feels a calmness come over her. Performing with her family as part of the Boorloo Aboriginal Dance Group helps her to tell stories, bring people together, and link to her past. She said: “Dancing has such a spiritual connection in our culture – it tells stories and awakens our ancestors. “When I dance, I feel engaged with my culture. It’s a vital part of my identity.” A proud Wilman, Koreng, and Kaneang woman, Charlotte joined Roy Hill two years ago as part of our Early Careers program and now works as a Training Assistant. #RoyHill
