Congratulations to Professor Karin Verspoor (FTSE FAIDH) and Milindi. All the best in your future endeavours Milindi Kodikara! We look forward to future collaborations!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of handing out diplomas to hundreds of RMIT School of Computing Technologies students who worked hard over many years to learn the skills that they need to launch or further their technology careers. I congratulated each and every single one, and celebrate their achievements! One special diploma went to Milindi Kodikara for her Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) Honours degree, for which she earned 1st class Honours. I had the privilege of mentoring her Honours project exploring the capabilities of LLMs to be used for extraction of genetic information from both English and Spanish scientific publications. Together, we were able to publish several papers including one at the recent Australasian Language Technology Association conference entitled, “Lesser the Shots, Higher the Hallucinations: Exploration of Genetic Information Extraction using Generative Large Language Models”. https://lnkd.in/gi8pDZv3 Milindi is on the job market! If you’re looking for an excellent software engineer with research experience with LLMs, here’s your chance to grab one! Huge thanks also to RACE (RMIT AWS Cloud Supercomputing) for supporting this project. Congratulations to Milindi, and to all the graduates! 🎓
