Our final sold out event of the year, Wear Your Culture, was a vibrant and meaningful success! On Tuesday night, we explored the power of embracing our roots and how they shape our stories and leadership journeys today. 🎉 A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional panelists—Rohini Kappadath, Frank Livoti, and Hua Feng—for sharing their invaluable insights and personal experiences. Their honest and thought-provoking stories inspired us to reflect on our cultural heritage and how it influences our leadership. This evening of raw storytelling fostered a deep sense of connection within our community, motivating us all to set bold, culturally rooted goals for the year ahead. The attendees got a chance to interact with the panelists directly along with other peers in smaller group breakouts for the activity following the panel talk. Reflecting on 2024 🎊 🎊 🎊 End of Year Message from the Founder & President, Pragya Gupta (on behalf of the MAPP founding committee): As we wrap up 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on MAPP’s incredible first year and share some of our key milestones. Thanks to the dedication of our founding committee (Aaron Chen, Carolyn P. Tran, Elly Buchanan, Jacquelyn Mangubat & Zamaneh Khoshdel), volunteers, and community, we’ve accomplished so much together! This year, we successfully hosted 3 in-person events, welcoming 400+ attendees and featuring 12 multicultural leaders as speakers from property & construction industry. Our community has grown to 1,000+ followers across LinkedIn and Instagram, and we’re proud to have a team of 15+ volunteers (including 6 founding committee members) driving our initiatives forward. We also forged strong partnerships, with 4 annual sponsors and 4 event/venue sponsors, and collaborated with Parlour Inc: gender, equity, architecture to amplify our impact. In addition, we launched the Leadership Spotlight Series, Volunteer Club, and our quarterly newsletter to further engage and support our community. MAPP was honoured to be named a Committee of the Year finalist, and I was humbled by nominations as finalist for Asian Australian Leader of the Year and Community Champion of the Year—recognitions that reflect the collective effort of everyone involved. On November 23rd 2024, the Multicultural Association of Property Professionals (MAPP) Inc. founding committee had the privilege of attending the Australian Professionals of Colour (APOC) 2024 Awards! A heartfelt thank you to APOC for nominating MAPP as finalist for the Australian Committee of the Year category. It’s an honour to be recognized alongside so many incredible committees making a difference in diverse communities. We’re still buzzing with joy and pride from last week’s incredible celebration of cultural diversity - Wear Your Culture. Thank you to everyone who participated and showcased such stunning cultural garments! 🌏✨ A huge congratulations to Yulia Maydurova, our winner for the best dressed for the evening, who wowed us in a breathtaking Kalinka costume! We will contact you for your special prize🌹 While it is not a specific historical Russian folk costume, the Kalinka ensemble is a contemporary representation inspired by traditional Russian attire. It embodies the vibrant essence of Russian folk traditions, often seen during festivals, performances, and celebrations such as Maslenitsa (Slavic Pancake Week). Julia’s stunning outfit included: 👗 Sarafan: A beautifully embroidered sleeveless dress in rich floral patterns. 👚 Blouse: Featuring elegant puffed sleeves with embroidered cuffs. 👑 Kokoshnik Headdress: A traditional, ornate headdress adorned with beads and pearls. ✨ Accessories: An apron and wide belt that added to the ensemble's intricate details. 🎨 Colors: Vibrant reds, whites, blues, and greens that symbolize prosperity and happiness. With nearly two decades of experience in engineering, having held design and leadership roles across roads, aviation, energy and public infrastructure sectors.
