  • 🎉 Huge congratulations to the Monash DeepNeuron undergraduate team for earning a Merit Award in the 7th APAC HPC-AI Competition—making it two years in a row! 🏆 This prestigious competition saw 41 teams from 23 universities and research institutions across 9 countries/regions. Of these, 21 teams advanced to the final stage, presenting their work last month. 🌍💻 The competition this year featured two standout projects: the use of HOOMD-blue simulations for modeling complex particle systems with applications in materials science, and the development of Llama-3, a cutting-edge large language model. Llama-3 leverages an advanced AI cluster for distributed inference, showcasing innovations in computational efficiency and scalability. The Monash HPC Branch team, led by Kevin Duignan (far right), also included Michael Xue , David Le , Simon Michnowicz , Daniel Arnould (from left to right), and Martin Carroll (not pictured). The team also received valuable contributions from former team lead Tyler Swann . A special shoutout to Simon Michnowicz , Senior Application Specialist from Monash eResearch HPC, for his invaluable guidance, and to Monash eResearch for their continued sponsorship and support. Keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing your future projects! ⭐️ #DeepNeuron #HPC #AI #MonashUniversity #Innovation
