Had the absolute honor of attending the Women Leaders in Trade forum at Government House in Victoria yesterday, hosted by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC. It was a privilege to meet Victoria’s 30th Governor and the second woman to hold this esteemed position. Prior to her appointment, Professor Gardner made history as the first woman President and Vice-Chancellor of Monash University. Her extraordinary career in academia and leadership exemplifies the transformative impact of women in leadership roles. We discussed the critical importance of equal representation across government, business, and trade sectors, emphasizing how such inclusivity fosters comprehensive economic and societal benefits. This event followed an earlier roundtable where I had the honor of contributing to discussions on how to empower more women in trade and support their expansion into China. Building on those dialogues, yesterday’s event centered on actionable insights sharing, with an expert panel moderated by Ema Lawrence highlighting the promising prospects within the Chinese market and tips of doing business in China. Some takeaways includes: ✨Act swiftly, remain agile: The Chinese market evolves rapidly, requiring prompt and flexible business strategies and actions ✨Find the right people: Partner with knowledgeable local talents to ensure cultural alignment, effective communication and market insight ✨Stay open minded and curious: Surround yourself with people who always want to learn ✨Build your unique brand value: Establish a distinct brand identity to stay ahead of competition The discussion also highlighted the remarkable rise of women entrepreneurs in China’s economy. Women are not only fueling job creation and boosting productivity but also reshaping market trends in profound ways. Here’s one compelling example shared by the panel - for years, red wine dominated the wine industry in China, as male business leaders traditionally preferred it for business functions. However, with the growing presence of female entrepreneurs, a fascinating shift has emerged - white wine is experiencing exponential growth! This shift exemplifies how women’s influence is reshaping industries and creating new opportunities along the way. A heartfelt thank you to Global Victoria and Australia China Business Council for organizing such an insightful event. It reinforced the importance of championing women’s roles in trade and global markets. At LIFTWOMEN® Group, as we continue to empower women entrepreneurs and create growth opportunities with access to capital and network, dynamic markets like China remain rich with potential. By bridging the gap and fostering connections, we can ensure sustainable growth and innovation for our community. Looking forward to working closely with Global Victoria in 2025 in empowering women in trade. Fiona Letos | Ema Lawrence | Virginia Birrell | Christie Ding #lifther #liftwomen #womenintrade
