Today, our Accordwest team had a great time at the Smart2Ask Community Expo. We connected with the community, learned about valuable resources, and shared information about our services. The expo was lively, and we had some fantastic conversations with folks eager to know more about what we do. Amidst the buzz, it was great to hand out toiletry bags and a few food vouchers to those in need. Although there were fewer community members than expected, the presence of many organisations made it a very informative day. Our services were well represented by our Reintegration and Rehabilitation, Homelessness, and Social Service programs. We made meaningful connections with both community members and other organisations, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event. Our team enjoyed being out in the community and engaging with everyone. We look forward to more opportunities like this to support and connect with our community. We’ve recently seen NRMA position themselves as ‘The Help Company’. What the? Don’t they do insurance? Where other insurers market themselves with tools to achieve recall (luuuuucky, you’re with AAMI), ‘The Help Company’ is a circuit breaker for NRMA Insurance. Now buyers have a clear idea of what NRMA are: a Help Company. It’s smart; the market already knows what NRMA do (insurance). The challenge is to show the market why NRMA is a better choice. SECRETS OF SUCCESS BASED THINKING REVEALED Competition is considered healthy. As industries grow, players enter providing an increased array of options to ever happier customers. Choice is a good thing. Customers benefit with range and reduced prices. Providers become more specialised. Or so the story goes. But markets become more cluttered. Businesses start looking similar. Meaningful differentiation becomes difficult. Customers become confused (and sceptical). Profitability suffers. Value starts being eroded. Cannibalisation begins. Businesses start undercutting each other. A Unique Selling Proposition was credible, and maybe even achievable, when markets where less cluttered (vis-a-vie 1950’s). Less competition created the space for meaningful differentiation. How? There were only 3 providers in your industry. But in modern cluttered markets where other businesses are doing the same, or similar to you, can the USP continue to be a thing? Add in more demanding customers, more aggressive competitors and increasingly difficult market conditions, and perhaps we need to realise chasing the elusive USP is a bit like flogging a dead horse. Will it win the race? Success Based Thinking Tip 2 is a system reboot - installing updated thinking. The reboot asks whether a USP is the most effective way to present an organisation to market. The updated program broadens the scope, asking what makes you better than your competition. To outperform the market is to uncover what you have in common with customers. The point of purchase is the middle meeting point, the holy grail where true value is created. It’s the value you bring the market - your Unique Value Proposition.
