Good news, Melbourne – water storage levels are expected to remain secure for the year ahead, with water restrictions not expected in the coming 12 months. But it’s up to all of us to make every drop count. 📈 Melbourne’s population grew by 140,000 last year, and we’ll need more water than what flows into our dams to keep up with demand. 💧 Melburnians used more water on average this year, with daily usage rising to 163 litres per person, up from 161 litres last year. 🥵 Storage levels can drop quickly if we experience dry spells. Together with Melbourne Water, South East Water, and Yarra Valley Water, we’ve been tracking Greater Melbourne’s water levels, usage and future needs. Learn more 👉 https://bit.ly/3iujFKB

We recently hosted a strategic workshop for Greening the West (GTW), an initiative focused on improving community liveability in Melbourne’s west. The workshop brought together a diverse group of partners, including state and local government, water corporations and universities, to discuss the future direction of the program. Since 2013, GTW has been working to transform our urban landscape, planting over 1.4 million trees and implementing innovative stormwater solutions. These projects not only help cool our cities, but also improve public spaces, and support community health and wellbeing by enhancing liveability and sustainability outcomes. We’re excited to continue working with our partners to shape a greener future in 2025. Each year we work hard to prepare our network for bushfire season. It’s people like Field Maintenance Officer, Shaun who help to protect water supplies and strengthen infrastructure to support our communities. Even with these efforts, intense demand from firefighters and potential damage means we can’t always guarantee water supply or quality during a bushfire. That’s why we encourage everyone to stay prepared too. Learn more 👉 https://bit.ly/4ggrQ5C

There’s a lot of news at the moment about PFAS, or ‘forever chemicals’, which are found in many everyday products. We want to reassure you that the water we provide is safe to drink and meets all Australian health guidelines. We regularly test our water, including for PFAS, and our results show that PFAS levels in our water are well within the safe levels set by national health guidelines. We understand concerns about PFAS, and we want you to feel confident in the water we deliver, knowing it’s rigorously tested and monitored. Last week our Community & Care team joined Moonee Valley City Council's Bring Your Bill Day to support our community. We connected with over 40 customers, helping them better understand their bills and explore financial support options. With the recent billing delays, offering this kind of support to our community was more important than ever. Thanks to the fantastic turnout, Moonee Valley City Council is planning to increase the this event to twice a year. Learn more about our support programs 👉 https://bit.ly/3BFeW2e

Last Friday, we joined in the Walk Against Family Violence, standing alongside survivors and advocating for change, with our strategic partner Victoria University. The walk marked the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. We walked because everyone deserves safety, equality, and respect. Learn more about our commitment to our customers and employees 👉 https://bit.ly/3GdLRtO
