Whilst the amazing events of Coast 4C being a The Earthshot Prize Finalist have been unfolding over the last couple of months, it is super exciting to see that our work in supporting coastal management and conservation has been receiving significant accolades within the Philippines! 1. Yesterday, our wonderful Production Supervisor Opina Noel represented Coast 4C to receive a Plaque of Recognition from the Bohol Provincial Governor for our "remarkable contribution" in the "management, protection and conservation of Bohol's coastal and marine resources and coastal law enforcement"! 2. In October, our very first iMPA in Tambaliza, Municipality of Concepcion received an award for "Outstanding Community-based Marine Protected Area" from the Governor of Iloilo Province! 3. In September, our role in supporting the Municipality of Ajuy (also Iloilo Province) was recognised by the Municipal Government only days before the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) of Ajuy Municipality was recognised for achieving the top level classification! These are not insignificant! Ajuy Municipality was awarded PHP20million (~USD350k) national award for it's efforts, a portion of which will go towards supporting the improved iMPA infrastructure and enforcement that helps to de-risk #seaweed farming. All huge testament to the tireless work of our #team with our #community partners in integrating #seaweed farming into larger and more effective marine protected areas to create wins for our 4Cs of Community, Commerce, Conservation and Climate. It is always good to have happy customers - both in the seaweed industry and in the coastal resource management sector - and to see the community and local government recognised for their critical roles! Super exciting, and I'm so glad that the Philippines is a member of the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People - how exciting is that to be converging through top-down and bottom-up approaches! A great panel at the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit in Singapore discussing Inclusive Finance for Smallholders. Coast 4C co-founder & CEO Nick Hill joined a panel representing innovative "aggregator" business models—trusted entities which empower smallholders while driving environmental and social impact. He spoke alongside Patrick Davenport, Paolin Pascot, Bambang Cahyo Susilo, and Su-E Yap moderated by Fred Puckle Hobbs. Thank you Tathva for the opportunity to spotlight our work building a dependable supply chain of regenerative seaweed farmed by smallholder farmers in the Philippines, and the role that finance can play in helping us be a solution to meet global market demand while creating impact.

Delighted to be back in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit this week! I was here a year ago just before #EarthshotSingapore. Little did I know then that this time I would be back after attending #EarthshotCapeTown with Coast 4C as a The Earthshot Prize Finalist and proudly wearing the golden pin! I am still in awe at the number of amazing people that AMADO BLANCO and I had the chance to meet at #EarthshotCapeTown! Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the five winners this year: High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative, Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), Keep IT Cool | Deliver while still fresh, Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems - incredible solutions with incredible people doing SO much for the planet. And within the remaining incredible 2024 Finalists, two founders were recently named in the TIME 100 Climate 2024 list: Gaurav N. Sant of Equatic.tech and Nedjip Tozun of d.light - alongside the wonderful Marisa Drew of The Earthshot Prize Global Alliance partner Standard Chartered; whilst NatureMetrics received the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco 2024 Planetary Health Awards for their incredible work! 👏 We were also welcomed into the Earthshot Prize Family by previous winners and finalists, including Sam Elsom of Sea Forest who was recently named the Tasmanian Australian of the Year (I was also proud to be wearing a suit made with wool from sheep fed Sea Forest's asparagopsis!), Pierre-Yves Paslier of Notpla, Larissa Hale of Queensland Indigenous Womens Ranger Network, Philip Ehrhorn, Florent Kaiser, Frank Harley, Gunnlaugur Erlendsson... the list goes on! These are the sorts of incredible people that Coast 4C now stands alongside, and I am SO proud of our amazing #team for all the work that they have done to get us here! There are a lot of #seaweed solutions out there, and to rise to the top as a Finalist is incredible recognition of which the whole team should be extremely proud! We're so grateful to Prince William and The Earthshot Prize for creating a platform that spotlights the power of #smallholder #seaweed farmers and #community-based action to #Revive Our #Oceans. The upstream side of supply chains is often not considered particularly sexy, but doing it right is fundamentally important to restoring our #planet, so it is great to see upstream companies such as Coast 4C, NFW (I love the PURIFIED FOOTWEAR that I wore to the ceremony with entirely NFW material!), MiAlgae and MYCL | Mycotech Lab spotlighted in this way. And we do not stand still! The Earthshot Prize is about driving scale, and this is exactly what we are working on! We have started some super exciting conversations with Global Alliance Partners and are scaling our business and impact so fast. It will require #collaboration to really achieve our goals! So I invite anyone that is interested in what we are doing to get in touch and explore how we can work together to achieve the better future for #People, #Planet and #Prosperity that we all desire! Just landed back home after the most epic couple of weeks for #EarthshotCapeTown and The Earthshot Prize Finalists Fellowship Retreat! Reflecting on what really has been a life changing experience full of the three elements that Hannah Jones described as essential to success: #leadership #growth, #joy and of course #purpose! All the finalists of course have purpose in spades already, although the experience really helped to reaffirm and further strengthen/embolden. The absolute highlight for me was getting to know and spend time with the incredible people behind the other Finalists and Winners! To them all: I see you, and I love you! We are now a family, together with the amazing Earthshot team who really made magic happen. I really feel #optimism that together, and with the thousands of other nominated solutions, we can smash climate chaos. We've got this!! Special shout out to Coast 4C 's fellow Finalists in the Revive Our Oceans category, particularly winner Rita Maria El Zaghloul and her team at High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, as well as Douglas Martin and his team at MiAlgae ! A win for the Oceans was always guaranteed, and I'm so delighted for and proud to know these amazing people. One of the most beautiful things was that there was not one ounce of ego amongst any Finalists in any categories (I wonder if that is actively selected against?!) - we were all so delighted for the amazing winners and it was really fun to let our hair down and celebrate after a super intense two weeks. Will share more in coming days about different events of the last few weeks, but for now a huge #THANKYOU to the Earthshot team, particularly Mathilde Carraro ,Tanya Aritao and Adrienne Clement - not easy herding cats around for two weeks and nothing was too small or too big! The little touches really made it a super special experience - such as cards with messages from our loved ones, and sitting my family at the ceremony behind me! This really is just the beginning of something huge for Coast 4C, and for all of us. I'm so excited for what's to come, and for this new and extended family that we now have. Last night was an incredible experience at The Earthshot Prize awards. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the same energy and excitement that has seen us through this pivotal week in Cape Town. And while we didn’t walk away with the award, it is our heartfelt belief that being part of this community makes us winners. Congratulations to The High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People on their fantastic achievement in the ‘Revive Our Oceans’ category, as well as all the winners across the other categories. The million pounds awarded to each category winner is - to put it simply - remarkable, and is a deserved, meaningful investment in their impactful solutions. Standing alongside all these earth-altering innovations and passionate individuals was an emotional moment for our team. It made us realise just how far we’ve already come, but still knowing that this is only the beginning. One thing is certain, Earthshot has given us even more conviction in our path. Our mission remains clear: to transform the supply of seaweed from the way it is farmed and harvested to the livelihoods farmers receive from it, making it more sustainable on all fronts. This vision is now stronger than ever, and we’re excited to continue this journey as part of the Earthshot community.
