A sneak peek behind the scenes at the world's largest producer of copper concentrates and cathodes. Located in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile, 170km south-east of Antofagasta, Escondida produces copper the world needs as we move towards a lower carbon future. Copper is essential to creating the infrastructure needed for renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar. #copper #mining #chile

Our Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada has the potential to become one of the world's largest potash mines, providing a rich source of potassium to create nutrient-rich soils capable of maximising food production. Once fully ramped up, it is expected to generate approximately 8.5 million tonnes of potash every year, with long-term growth plans for future expansions.🌱 #canada #potash #BHP

Our Escondida operations in Chile recently welcomed the families of our workers, allowing them to explore the world’s largest copper-producing mine. 💥 During the tour, families visited the Escondida River lookout, where they witnessed extraction trucks transporting ore for various processing stages. They also had the unique opportunity to view the 4800 XCP electric shovel, which is the largest of its kind in Latin America. 💪 #chile #electricshovel #mining

Kwinana, Western Australia has been chosen as the preferred location for what could be Australia's largest electric smelting furnace pilot plant. We’re joining with Rio Tinto, BlueScope Australia and Woodside Energy to jointly investigate the development of a pilot to test this technology for the potential to significantly lower the carbon emissions intensity of steel-making. 🔧 “A successful pilot plant of this scale would be a huge achievement as we work with our partners, here and around the world, to seek to help fast-track decarbonisation pathways for steelmakers using Pilbara ores,” Tim Day, Asset President, Western Australia Iron Ore. #Innovation #Sustainability #DecarbonisingSteel

South Australia is home to about 70% of Australia's copper resources. BHP operates three underground copper mines, Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill and a nationally significant smelter and refinery complex in South Australia's far north. We are on track to produce between 310 to 340 thousand tonnes of this critical mineral this financial year. #copper #BHP #SouthAustralia #FutureMade

“It's incredible to think that from commissioning early next year, the solar farm is expected to provide most of the daytime energy needs of our huge port facilities in Port Hedland,” said Western Australia Iron Ore Asset President Tim Day 🌞 Exciting news! The Port Hedland Solar and Battery Project is complete! ⚡ Once commissioned early next year, the solar farm will power most of our daytime energy needs at Port Hedland. The remaining power will come from the BESS and APA’s existing gas-fuelled power station facilities. This project is a cornerstone of BHP’s and APA’s shared vision for a more sustainable Pilbara with lower greenhouse gas emissions. 🌱 #Decarbonisation #RenewableEnergy #PilbaraPower #Sustainability
