🎤🎥📺📰The annual Sport Ireland Women in Sport Media Networking Day took place at the weekend bringing together former athletes and members of the media. Following a workshop hosted by Storyslam, participants had the opportunity to network and build relationships with sports media. 📄 A recently commissioned report by the Federation of Irish Sport and supported by Sport Ireland research grant scheme was also launched at the event. The author of the report Dr. Anne O'Brien of Maynooth University shared her findings in conversation with John Greene Sports Editor with The Sunday Independent. ⚖ The report, Gender Equality of Media Representation of Sport in Ireland provides insights into challenges and barriers sports media experience relating to the coverage of women’s sport and offers a framework for how more balanced and equitable coverage can be achieved. 👉For full details and a copy of the report go to: https://lnkd.in/ejNRHP_J

🔍 Garda Vetting: A Key Step in Safeguarding 🔍 Sport Ireland is are committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety for children and vulnerable individuals in sport. Garda Vetting plays a crucial role in achieving this goal, as outlined under the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 - 2016. The Act mandates that organizations must not permit individuals to engage in relevant work or activities without first obtaining a Garda Vetting disclosure. This process safeguards our communities by ensuring that those working with children or vulnerable adults have undergone the necessary checks. 📌 Who needs Garda Vetting? Anyone carrying out regular, relevant work with children or vulnerable adults. 📌 What’s involved in the process? 1️⃣ Completion of a vetting application form, signed with proof of ID and address. 2️⃣ Face-to-face ID and address verification. 3️⃣ Submission of the application to the National Vetting Bureau for checks. 4️⃣ Receipt of a vetting disclosure by the organization's liaison officer.
