I love the scientific process of sharing work and opening up to critique. It is stimulating and inspiring to see other's work and valuable to share one's own, and it is healthy for anyone looking to make progress. Last week, I presented a poster at the ITER International School - the World's biggest conference for young fusion researchers, hosted in Nagoya, Japan. Sharing the science we produce and having it vetted by independent researchers is invaluable. It allows us to get validation of our ideas and advice from experts - it is a win-win! However, sometimes it can be a bit daunting to open up like this: In this case to professors from esteemed institutions and experts from ITER (World's biggest science project) and over 200 PhD-students from all over the world, all highly skilled in fusion. What we are trying to do at Novatron Fusion Group AB is no doubt bold and high-risk... But I am happy to say it went very well! Great comments, advice and support from people I hold in very high regard - some of the best scientists in the field. A great honour and a fantastic motivation! As usual, seeing all the awesome research is great, but the best thing about these gatherings is meeting people. Chatting with ITER staff on the bus, singing karaoke with PhD-students from all over the world and discussing as peers. It has sparked many thoughts and I have learnt a lot. The fusion community is vibrant and I am excited to be a part of it! Thanks to the ITER Organization and National Institute for Fusion Sciences (NIFS), National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS) for hosting, and to Novatron Fusion Group AB for sending me on this adventure.

The collaborations on fusion energy between Sweden and the UK keep going from strength to strength! First and MoU between UK Atomic Energy Authority and Novatron Fusion Group AB and now this 🥳 It was two years ago I first met with Peter Roos and Linda Nyberg at KTH in a meeting that started it all off and led to some great work with UK Atomic Energy Authority Tim Bestwick , Valerie Jamieson , Nicole K. , Jan Jäderberg , Erik Odén , Philip von Segebaden , Charlott Michaelsen-Blomström , Marika Amartey Kaliff , Craig Jantzen ,Samantha Job , Stefan Gullgren. I think it is such a good exempel of what we can support as the UK Science&Innovation Network. Bravo to all involved! I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings!
With partners like Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology and UK Atomic Energy Authority, the TauEB project will bring together leading experts in magnetic confinement, plasma stability, radio-frequency plasma heating, and advanced diagnostics. The project introduces a first-of-its-kind integration of three physical confinement techniques: · Magnetic Confinement: Through the Novatron’s unique magnetic mirror design. · Ambipolar Plugging: An electrostatic plugging at the magnetic mirrors, achieved by creating an electric potential within the plasma. · Ponderomotive Confinement: Confinement of the plasma by an external electric RF-field, using the ponderomotive force. "It is great that UKAEA and Novatron Fusion Group continue to develop our collaborative efforts. Together we are advancing fusion research and development, driving innovation and shaping the future of fusion as a low carbon energy source." Tim Bestwick, Deputy CEO of UK Atomic Energy Authority.
