Yesterday, the ECI Group hosted our annual business review at the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Düsseldorf Airport, bringing together our Team to reflect on 2024 and strategize for 2025. A profound post by our colleague Charles Wattebled from our Member Firm APERLEAD in France, translated into English to make it accessible to a wider audience : 🌳 "The Man Who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono and the role of an executive headhunter: a lesson on the importance of long-term vision and finding one’s "own place" ⏳ In Jean Giono's famous tale, a man dedicates his life to planting trees in a barren region. He knows that the results will only be visible after years, but he persists, driven by a long-term vision and the belief that a renewed landscape will nourish future generations. This reminds me of the concept of the "own place" found in Aristotle. This idea suggests that for each person, there is a unique space where they can fully realize their potential, a zone of harmony between the individual and their environment. 🌍 As an executive headhunter, this notion is at the heart of our work. Finding the right talent for the right role is a bit like helping someone find their "own place" within an organization, where they can not only thrive but also have a deep and lasting impact. Like the man who planted trees, we plant the seeds of human relationships based on trust and an understanding of long-term potential, for both the candidate and the company. 🔍 What’s the connection between these ideas?
