🌍 Reflections on the Innovation Forum’s Scope 3 Conference Just yesterday, we wrapped up our time at the Innovation Forum's Scope 3 Conference in Washington, D.C., where leaders and innovators came together to tackle the challenges of transparency and accountability in supply chains. For Kanop, it was an invaluable opportunity to deepen our understanding of how companies are addressing Scope 3 emissions and to showcase how our work supports impact-driven decision-making. The attendees were very candid and placed an emphasis on collaboration. Here are some of our key takeaways: 💡 Decarbonization is achievable — even with only 1% of sales directed toward it, companies can do what is needed to meet science backed decarbonization goals. 🙌 Policy stability fuels hope — there’s optimism that a change in administration won’t derail companies’ voluntary climate goals. 🛰️ Data isn’t the bottleneck — while high-quality remote sensing data is critical, the real gap lies in understanding how to effectively leverage the insights from existing service providers. In 2024, we were proud to publicly share our methodology and accuracy assessment reports. As we look toward 2025, our focus will shift toward enhancing the accessibility of our platform and offerings. We want to ensure everyone understands not just what we do, but how we do it—and how it can drive measurable impact. 🚀 Looking ahead, we’re excited to integrate these insights into our work and continue empowering businesses to meet their climate and environmental goals.

We’re thrilled to share groundbreaking research led by our talented Computer Vision Engineer, Carla G., introducing the innovative InSAR2InSAR model—a leap forward for accurate environmental monitoring. 🌍✨ Why does this matter? The InSAR2InSAR deep learning model tackles a key challenge in remote sensing: speckle noise. This common issue affects the quality of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data, which is critical for analyzing forest structure and monitoring environmental changes. By reducing speckle noise, InSAR2InSAR dramatically enhances the clarity and utility of InSAR data. For Kanop and our clients, this means: ✅ More precise measurement of forest structure parameters. ✅ Improved detection of environmental changes. ✅ Enhanced capacity to support climate and biodiversity monitoring. This research underscores our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for impactful climate action and biodiversity preservation. 🌱 🎉 Huge congratulations to Carla G., Colette Gelas, and our incredible partners Télécom Paris and ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab for this milestone achievement! 🌱 📊 Kanop has submitted feedback to the Nature Positive Initiative (NPI) State of Nature Metrics Consultation! As a company committed to driving impactful, data-informed solutions for nature-based projects, we’re thrilled to support the NPI’s mission to create consensus around meaningful metrics for environmental resilience and nature-positive solutions. Currently, a lack of standardized, practical ways to measure impact is holding back crucial progress. With this consultation, instead of introducing new standards, the NPI aims to refine a set of “best” metrics to guide nature-positive outcomes. We were especially encouraged to see key market influencers like Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Science Based Targets Network (SBTN), The Biodiversity Consultancy Ltd, Inter-American Development Bank, EY, KPMG, and others express their alignment with NPI’s proposed list of metrics. This unified approach will empower companies to report on their environmental impacts with greater consistency and transparency. We’re proud to contribute our insights to this critical initiative, and we encourage others in the field to do the same. 🗓️ Public feedback is open until November 13th- let’s help shape a future where nature thrives and measurable standards pave the way. 📢 Submit feedback and participate here: https://lnkd.in/eycKGxAw

🦜 Kanop’s first Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) is officially in the books! 📚 🌍 Our CTO, Louis de Vitry, and Business Development Manager, Coby Strell, had an incredible time connecting with fellow Nature Tech enthusiasts, learning from inspiring panelists, and engaging with both current and potential clients and partners. 💡 A significant takeaway from COP16 is that while there’s still a way to go in mobilizing financial resources to curb nature loss, there are clear steps being taken in the right direction. It was particularly encouraging to see major market influencers like TNFD, SBTN, IADB, EY, KPMG, and more express their verbal alignment with a common list of metrics produced by the Nature Positive Initiative that companies can use to report on their impacts on nature with consistency and transparency. The week culminated in a roundtable where Coby joined Alan Kroeger from Satelligence and Jorge Ahumada from WildMon to discuss the latest technological advances in biodiversity monitoring and opportunities for further collaboration. Huge thanks as always to the Nature Tech Collective for organizing such dynamic sessions! 🇨🇴 Our time in Cali, Colombia, has been enlightening, and has given us a clearer vision of what we can do to help our world in its time of need. Big things are on the horizon, so stay tuned! 🌳

Biodiversity—the variety of life on Earth—is facing an unprecedented crisis. Over 1.2 million plant and animal species are estimated to be under threat of extinction, with human activities being a primary driver of this loss. In the past 50 years alone, monitored wildlife populations have shrunk by 73%. This urgency sets the stage for the UN Biodiversity Conference COP16 happening this week in Cali, Colombia—one of the world's most biodiverse regions. Decisions made here will define our collective future, and implementing these commitments requires global collaboration. To achieve meaningful progress, we need to build trust and effectively track the benefits of biodiversity efforts. This is where Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) comes into play. MRV is a multi-step process designed to measure the positive impacts and benefits of protection, restoration, and regeneration projects on biodiversity. We are honored that Kanop has been featured by ClimateHack alongside other innovators and experts, to highlight how data analytics tools are revolutionizing MRV for biodiversity.
