Dioxycle a republié ceci
Meet Grace McKelvey, Head of People at Dioxycle. Grace is shaping the team and culture to drive Dioxycle’s mission of converting industrial carbon emissions into valuable chemicals like ethylene. This process reduces reliance on fossil fuels and cuts carbon footprints across industries. Here’s how Grace’s discovery of recruiting led her to scaling a world-class team at Dioxycle. 🏔 Tell us about your career path. “I’ve always had a passion for language and people, so although I discovered HR by accident when I moved to France at age 22, everything clicked into place from there. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of HR roles, with a particular focus on the energy, mobility, and SaaS industries, and on startups at the Series A to C stages." "I’m basically a Series A through Series C addict at this point. It’s a fascinating and complex point in a business’s journey where you are in the weeds solving all types of problems to help the technology and business scale while making so many critical decisions about who you want to be as a culture.” 🌱 What drew you to climate tech? “My concern about the climate crisis began during my university years. My student climate days culminated in volunteering at COP21 in Paris in 2015, but then I got disillusioned with how slow politics seemed." "As the years went by and I saw the increasing effects of climate change, my personal efforts to reduce my impact no longer felt enough. I used to think of climate change as a yes/no issue—you either stop it or you don’t." "But somewhere on a solo bike trip from Paris to the French west coast in 2021, I realized my thinking was too binary. It’s about reducing every fraction of a degree– every ton matters. On that trip, I made a vow: whatever I did next would be maximizing my impact. Enter Sarah, David, and Dioxycle, stage right!” 🚀 What’s surprised you most about working in climate tech? “I had never heard of ethylene before (now I can’t unsee it, it’s everywhere!), but I did know how hard it is to decarbonize industry." "I had worked in startups before, including in EV charging which has some operational similarities, but the sheer complexity of scaling first-of-a-kind technologies has surprised me most in my current role. It’s packed with fascinating challenges that call for creativity!” 💪 What keeps you motivated when things get tough? “What drew me to Dioxycle was Sarah Lamaison, PhD and David Wakerley, PhD’s pragmatic and positive vision (and, of course, the incredible team!). Even on tough days, the thought of the gigaton impact and the joy, determination, and spirit of the Dioxycle team boosts me and renews my smile!” Interested in joining Grace at Dioxycle?
