🍃NEW INVESTMENT TO SUPPORT THE GREEN TRANSITION AND RENEWABLE ENERGY IN SOUTHERN AFRICA🍃 One of the Danish government’s main priorities in the new strategy for Africa is supporting Africa’s sustainable economic growth and green transition. At this year’s COP29, it was agreed that the world’s richest countries are obliged to support the developing countries with at least💰300 billion USD in climate financing by 2035. Southern African countries have a major power supply deficit and lack risk capital for renewable energy investments. Therefore, IFU and the Swedish Development Finance Institution, Swedfund International, have partnered with Sturdee Energy. The company develops renewable energy projects across Southern Africa. “IFU’s investment in Sturdee Energy is a perfect match with our ambition to support the green transition and improve living conditions in Africa. We believe that Sturdee Energy is a solid company with a professional management playing an important role in increasing renewable energy supply, which is a driver for sustainable economic growth,” says Thomas Hougaard, Senior Vice President and Head of Green Energy & Infrastructure in IFU. 👇Read full story in comments👇 Koushik Rajagopalan ,CFA I Muktar Mahdi I Rikke Carlsen I Karoline Lund I Oliver Stanek Villsen I Jonas Kolijn I James White I Andrew Johnson #COP29 #SDG #impactinvesting #renewableenergy #dkpol

⚡ Swedfund and IFU, have partnered with Sturdee Energy to accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in Southern Africa, with a primary focus on South Africa, a country heavily reliant on coal-fired electricity. Southern African countries have a major power supply deficit and lack risk willing capital for renewable energy investments. To support the green transition and the development of increased energy capacity from renewable sources, Swedfund and IFU are each committing USD 22 million in direct equity investments to support Sturdee Energy's growth initiatives. — This investment is a good strategic fit for Swedfund as it contributes to climate mitigation through replacing coal power with renewable power such as solar and wind, says Jonas Kolijn, Senior Investment Manager at Swedfund International. 👉 Read full press release: https://lnkd.in/gdgRfMuV #Swedfund #DevFin #Climate #Energy #Africa #Renewable #GreenTransition

As we gear up for the construction of our two 10MW solar parks in partnership with PPC Cement, we’re reflecting on the profound significance this project holds for Sturdee Energy and our commitment to renewable energy in South Africa. Being a home-grown Independent Power Producer (IPP), we are proud to have ticked off several key goals that align with our mission: ✅ Develop, own, and operate renewable energy projects: We proudly lead as the greenfield developer, sponsor, and shareholder of these groundbreaking solar energy projects. ✅ Provide innovative energy solutions to government utilities and large industrials: Partnering with PPC Cement, a top cement supplier in South Africa, we deliver sustainable energy solutions for public and industrial sectors. ✅ Focus on the Southern African region: As a proudly South African company, we collaborate with local partners like PPC Cement, RMB and Aurex Constructors, leveraging local skills and expertise to strengthen the economy. With our in-house capability to develop and design projects from inception, we ensure that every step of the process, from planning to construction, is expertly managed and driven by local talent. ✅ Environmental benefits: We anticipate generating 56,500 megawatt-hours of renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 54 million tonnes over the project's lifetime. ✅ Provide local employment: We’re not just building solar parks; we’re creating valuable job opportunities in our communities. ✅ Tailor renewable solutions for clients: Sturdee has uniquely designed these projects to meet PPC’s specific needs, conducting a dust fallout analysis to ensure optimal placement and efficiency of our solar installations. With the financial close now secured, we're ready for our next step: Construction. #renewableenergy #sustainableenergy #solarpower #greenenergy #financialclose #southafricaenergy #solarparks #sustainabledevelopment #powerpurchaseagreement #SturdeeEnergy #PPCCement

Sturdee Energy is turning up the power—literally. With our Green Electron Market, we’re now trading energy from our own fleet and third-party generators. 🔸 What makes us different? We’re one of the few IPPs with a trading licence, allowing us to sell energy directly, with no extra margins. We offer flexible bilateral PPAs, alternative off-taker options for unused energy, and optimise risk through the aggregator effect for lenders. 🔸 It’s a powerful combination of expertise and flexibility that optimises pricing, risk, and energy consumption for our customers. Whether it’s time-of-use tariffs or long- and short-term PPAs, our trading licence opens up more possibilities for everyone involved. 🔸 And let’s be clear: we’re power people. With over 650 MW of experience in developing, owning, and operating renewable power plants, we bring more than just energy to the table—we bring know-how. Compare that to the competition, and it’s easy to see why partnering with Sturdee Energy means partnering with the real experts. #renewableenergy #sustainableenergy #greenenergy #southafricaenergy #SturdeeEnergy #Nersa #Nersaapproved #energytrading #IPP #powerexpertise #cleanenergy #energyinnovation

Trading License Update Sturdee Energy celebrates that our wholly-owned subsidiary Green Electron Market (GEM) has received the support of the NERSA - RSA electricity subcommittee to approve our trading license. This creates another important route to market for electricity we source from our own power plants and third-party generators. This decision sets Sturdee Energy apart as one of the few #IPPs with its own #TradingLicense which allows us to compete not only in the bilateral market but also in the aggregation market. The net result is more flexible #PPAs for our customers and greater diversification to our shareholders and lenders. More importantly it provides another solid result in our journey as a homegrown energy company.
