About us
Romero House provides services to refugee claimants: people who claim refugee status after arriving in Canada. Amongst four houses, in the West Bend neighbourhood of Toronto, we have 10 apartments for refugee families. Most families live with us for the one year after their arrival, in which time they are accompanied in navigating the refugee determination process and establishing their lives in Canada. We support our residents with every element of their settlement in Canada, and also offer social and emotional support. We also provide a variety of programs for our residents, including our Kids’ Club, Women’s Group, Second Harvest food drive, retreats throughout the year, and a summer camp. In addition to the support we provide to our residents, we offer walk-in services for refugee claimants who do not live with us. Our weekly food bank and clothing boutique are also offered to walk-ins. We can often help with: - Settlement assistance - Accessing Legal Aid - Finding lawyers - Accessing food banks - Refugee claim process - Accessing education - Clothing and furniture - Accessing social assistance

A huge thank you to everyone who made our first-ever 5km Run/Walk/Roll through High Park such a success! 🎉With 65 participants running and walking, 45 incredible volunteers, and an amazing $38,420 raised, this event was a true testament to the power of community. 🌳🏃♂️🏃♀️ After the race, we enjoyed a beautiful community picnic, and our awards ceremony was a wonderful way to recognize everyone’s efforts. 💛 A special shoutout to everyone sporting their yellow Romero House t-shirts—what a sight! Together, we made this event accessible and fun for all. Thank you for being part of this special day and for continuing to support Romero House and our work with refugee claimants. Whether you ran, walked, rolled, or cheered from the sidelines, every effort has contributed to creating lasting change. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive community.
