Feeling inspired and energized! 🌟 🎉 Last week, on behalf of Nunafab I had the incredible honor of being a guest panelist at the #Firehood Summit - an event that left me truly inspired💡 This remarkable gathering brought together young girls from all over to participate in engaging STEAM 💥 workshops and compete in a thrilling business startup pitch competition (complete with a cash prize 🏆 ). The excitement was absolutely contagious! 🚀 Highlights of the summit included: • Phenomenal speakers including: the Honourable Jean Augustine, the first Black Canadian woman to serve as a federal Minister of the Crown and Member of Parliament! The Hon. Charmaine Williams and MPP Patrice Barnes. • The BRIGHT and inspiring Beatrice Milasan sharing her story! • Connecting with passionate, like-minded women such as Hillary Lane, Abimbola Akinnuoye, Kai Algar, Nicole Troster, Roma Lyon, Cindy Diogo-Kociuba, ZJ Hadley, Teresa Phares-Evanoff, and #Firehood founders Claudette M. and Danielle Brewin Graham. What made this event particularly special was having my daughter there to witness it all. Seeing her eyes light up as she explored endless possibilities for her future was truly heartwarming ❤️🔥... It was amazing to watch her confidence grow as she made friends with girls from all over 🫶 ! Events like these remind us of the importance of nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders. Let's continue pushing boundaries and changing the status quo! 💪#WomenInSTEAM #YouthEmpowerment #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #WomenInvesting #FirehoodSummit

"The courage comes after you make the leap, not before!" That's something I tell others when they are put in a position of having to make bold moves and voyaging into uncharted territories. It's something I had to tell myself right before I unexpectedly had to make a solo trip From Toronto to Boston and Back within 18 hours so I could pitch Tie Con East in front of an audience of 300+! Big thanks to TiE Boston, who in partnership with TiE Toronto - sponsored Cynthia Ené and other startups to go and created much-needed US market connection and exposure. For the past two years, I've been enacting a vision of travel, adventure, networking and venture partnerships. I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, but it turned out it just started with finding my people. Some of those incredible people who have lit the way have been at organizations that include TiE Toronto, Nunafab and The Firehood, as well as the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA) It's especially thanks to brilliant and ambitious women, willing to advocate for, enable and mentor emerging managers like me so I can navigate the ocean that is the innovation economy and large-scale entrepreneurship. Thank you! 🙏🏼 Some highlights from Tie Con Include: 1. Experiencing technical difficulties with the clicker, re-starting and then acing it. Oddly enough, this had an upside I hadn't considered; it made me relatable and memorable! 2. Deepak Chopra BLEW MY MIND 🤯: From chemistry to spirituality, Chopra's intriguing discussions on the role of AI in understanding consciousness and potentially lifting human evolution was of course DEEP! My favourite quote is Chopra talking about how he talks a lot to Startup Founders... who reference their Startup 'Exits' He asks them, "Have you considered the ULTIMATE exit? Death? Which is stalking you at every moment" 😂😂 I'd love to see their faces when he says that. 3. Exciting conversations about green funds and smart waste management solutions for mining camps and new townships. 4. Connecting with brilliant minds like Rahul Singh and Upasana Sharma. Looking forward to exploring potential collaborations! 5. Discoving TiE's Global impact - so impressed by TiE's contribution of $2.7 trillion in market cap over 25 years. The power of mentorship and community in action! Grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an enriching event. Let's continue to innovate, collaborate, and build a more sustainable, joyful world together! #TiEBoston #TieConEast #Innovation #Sustainability #AI #Entrepreneurship #nunafab #buildgreen #scarlettventure #ventureadventures

Yesterday was full of #GirlPower... Women Power? Whatever you want to call it, the power of a network was on full display! It started with a lunch by Be Uninterrupted. The theme was "Women on Boards," and Dr. Deborah Rosati FCPA, FCA, ICD.D, GCB.D, CCB.D of Women Get On Board Inc. (WGOB) gave a very insightful talk. These smaller, more intimate groups are amazing for connecting and learning. Grateful to learn more about how sponsors Gowling WLG and Burgundy Asset Management Ltd. to support women in leadership. Be Uninterrupted is an incredible initiative by Suzanne Knight, MBA, MA, and Jessica Snow, where they are building a professional support system designed by women for women to pass on their survival guide, vetted resources, and 1:1 advice to have at your fingertips. (Psst... they have a summit coming up on September 27th, and they are almost sold out!!) Then, it was on to TD's original CEO's office for an evening with The Firehood. The evening featured three special founders for showcasing how they are solving big problems and driving impact. Well done, Kara LeBlanc of MedReddie, Sarah Sedgman of LearnExperts, and Cynthia Ene E. of Nunafab! 🎉 🚀 All three will receive support from TD as they grow and scale. Danielle Brewin Graham and Claudette M. are the BLUEPRINTS for using their incredible network for good! All throughout the evening, I witnessed connection after connection being made and powerful people opening up their personal "Rolodexes" for founders. The Firehood is a group of incredible "startup shepherds" and leaders. I am so humbled to be in these rooms and incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had yesterday- and for the ones they will bring tomorrow. A rising tide lifts all boats. ⛵
