A lot can change in a year! In 2023 I spent a lot of time at networking events, in LinkedIn DMs and on calls, trying to find “product market fit” as a public speaking coach. Ultimately though, it was a lot more planting seeds than actual coaching. Fast forward to 2024 all the relationship building paid off and I had the privilege of working with over 250 entrepreneurs and corporate professionals from some amazing organizations like; DMZ, Nobellum, Black Founders Network, Black Entrepreneurship Alliance, Fintech Cadence, makingTheMove, LiftOff by CCAWR, Entrepreneurs Point, Federation of Black Canadians, African Impact Initiative I’m also extremely passionate about helping youth to build their confidence and I got to deliver public speaking workshops at Fraser International College (my alma mater), Upper Canada College and (HTS) Holy Trinity School. Thank you to every single one of you that’s allowed me to support you and your communities in 2024 on our journey to becoming more confident and effective storytellers. 🌟 Today, I want to celebrate the Black Innovation Zone (BIZ) and its incredible ecosystem partners, Black Entrepreneurship Alliance (BEA), Black Founders Network (BFN), Federation of Black Canadians (FBC), Nobellum, BOF, CBCC, DMZ , BlackNorth Initiative, Tribe Ventures and the African Impact Initiative, etc: Thank you for this initiative to highlight the stories and innovations of Black founders and professionals in Canada. Earlier this year, I had the privilege of participating in the Black Innovation Summit by the DMZ, where RenMobi made it to the Top 10 in the pitch competition. What made this moment truly unforgettable was that it marked my very first pitch competition! This experience created opportunities for RenMobi that I could never have envisioned. We had investors approaching us, inquiring about how much funding we were seeking and discussing our next investment cycle. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to Yinka Adesesan, the manager of the DMZ-BIS, whose support and guidance gave me the confidence to step into the competition. Yinka ensured I had all the resources I needed, from prepping for the pitch and later securing a legal grant that enabled us to file the Intellectual Property for one of RenMobi Inc.’s key inventions. This ecosystem is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation and intentional support for Black-owned businesses. To all the partners and advocates behind the scenes at BIZ and DMZ BIS—thank you for believing in us and championing our success.
