A centre dedicated to harnessing interdisciplinary research to promote the flourishing of every child and family
About us
The Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Children is a child health equity-focused research centre in collaboration between the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children. The Centre brings together top researchers to help reduce inequities in child health, including those caused by social and structural determinants of health. The Centre marked its fourth anniversary in June 2023. Our story began in 2019 when Dr. Edwin S. H. Leong, University of Toronto alumnus and global leader in business and philanthropy, made a landmark gift to the University of Toronto to advance the global field of child health by establishing the Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Children. We take an interdisciplinary approach to precision medicine, which combines knowledge from intervention science, policy research, data science, and patient and community engagement, to improve the well-being of children and their families.
