<What are your thoughts?> Recently, US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy highlighted a concerning mental health emergency among young people related to social media. Singapore's MOH and MSF are actively addressing this issue, with local studies like GUSTO demonstrating the negative impacts of screen time on child development. As new initiatives are being finalized, I encourage all parents to adhere to the current MOH guidance on screen use to safeguard our children's mental well-being. Essential topics on this panel discussing the latest federal and state #legislativepolicy addressing #mentalhealth and #maternalmentalhealth, including mental health parity, federal and state #MMHlegislation, and remaining state and Federal policy priorities. “Maternal mental health can be addressed by specific laws and policies and it is also influenced by larger systemic issues in healthcare, including payment. We have to work on both - policies that specifically advance maternal mental health and those that make it easier to provide good care to everyone." Mary Giliberti "Health care is only as effective as it is accessible and affordable. The good news is that we have concrete policy solutions that remove many of the barriers preventing mothers from accessing the mental health care services they need. We know where we need to be and how to get there. Our task is now in employing fierce advocacy, robust policy making, and holding our leaders accountable towards ensuring all mothers and families have access to the care they deserve." Lauren Finke "Maternal mental health is health. These are real medical conditions that impact patients much like physical conditions. As patients continue to face challenges such as gaps in care and policies that can hinder access to treatment, it is time to prioritize action to create a better future for moms, babies and families." Julie Garner "Maternal mental health uniquely transcends political divides, uniting policymakers across the spectrum through personal experiences and a common cause. As advocates, our mission is to bridge understanding with action, guiding lawmakers to transform shared experiences into comprehensive support for every family." Jim Bialick

US Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy’s most recent warning about parental wellbeing and stress cannot be overstated. In his statement, Dr. Murthy emphasizes that the wellbeing of parents and caregivers significantly influences the health of their children. It's a reminder that resonates beyond just the realm of parenthood. The individuals facing this acute stress are not a separate group; they are many of us. They are also our colleagues, friends, leaders, educators, employees and loved ones. The impact of parental stress and support reaches far and wide, shaping our communities and workplaces. At idealis. my colleagues and I study the impact of stress, burnout, isolation and so many other human challenges. The more we research and measure humanity at work, the more resolute we become in our belief that our personal well-being and the health and success of our organizations are inextricably linked. #healthyparents #healthyorganizations #healthycommunities

Sweden's New Screen Time Guidelines for Children The Swedish Public Health Agency has issued new recommendations advising parents to eliminate screen time for toddlers and limit it to one hour per day for children aged 2 to 5. This initiative aims to address concerns over a "sleep crisis" and increased anxiety among youth. For adolescents and young adults, it's crucial to be mindful of screen usage and prioritize activities that promote mental well-being. https://lnkd.in/dVKMP5Yt

🌟 Celebrating Child Health Day 🌟 Every child deserves a chance to grow up healthy and thrive, but access to quality care is not equal for all. On this Child Health Day, we're shining a light on the importance of health equity and how we can work together to bridge the gaps in children's healthcare. Here’s how we can make a difference: 🩺 Ensure Equitable Access to Care – Every child, no matter their background, should have access to routine checkups and preventive treatments. 🌿 Build Healthier Communities – Advocate for safe play spaces and access to nutritious foods in underserved areas. 💬 Expand Mental Health Support – Address the growing need for affordable mental health services for children in all communities. 📢 Share Knowledge – Empower families by providing them with the health education and resources they need to make informed decisions for their children’s well-being. Let’s work towards a future where every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the healthcare they need. 🌍💙 #ChildHealthDay #HealthEquity #HealthyFuture #HealthcareForAll #Healthlincs

To all of my Asian women struggling with disordered eating in silence: You deserve to get to help. Solace Recovery is a culturally-informed eating disorder recovery coaching program created to support the unique challenges faced by AAPI and APIDA communities. No recovery is one-size-fits all. However, ED-related issues in these communities are often overshadowed by societal stigma and a lack of cultural understanding. These nuances are difficult to address without understanding the norms ingrained in this community of need. Solace Recovery aims to: build an actionable recovery plan, identify what truly works for your recovery, and empower you with clarity and confidence to reclaim what you've lost — all through a culturally sensitive, relevant, and compassionate lens of care.

SOCIAL MEDIA BILLS AIM TO PROTECT KIDS’ HEALTH | Senate leaders are gauging support for three bills promoting children’s online safety, a Senate aide told our Rebecca Kern. [ KFF & Politico] The Kids Online Safety Act, which Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) sponsored, would require social media platforms to prevent the spread of harmful content, such as material related to suicide or eating disorders, on their sites. Why it matters: Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has warned that social media might be contributing to an increase in mental illness among youth. An advisory from Murthy last year said adolescents who spend more than three hours a day on social media face double the risk of experiencing poor mental health outcomes. Assessing support, and opposition, is known as hotlining. If no one objects, a bill sponsor can call for passage by unanimous consent, avoiding the lengthy debate that accompanies other Senate legislation.
