Pie-IX bridge: An ambitious achievement for sustainable mobility. With 56,000 vehicles crossing daily, the Pie-IX Bridge is a vital link between Laval and Montreal. This major project aimed to enhance active and public transportation options while ensuring the bridge’s longevity for Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD). CIMA+ at Mineral Resources Review 2024 It was a pleasure attending the Mineral Resources Review 2024 in St. John’s! Our team, including Rob Beresford, Harrison Lake, Colin McInnis, P. Eng., Lucas Coady P. Eng., PMP, and Jeffery Hynes, P. Eng, PMP, had a fantastic time connecting with industry leaders and peers. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat — it was great meeting you all and discussing the future of mineral exploration and mining.

What is urban flooding? Urban flooding occurs in developed areas where water has no where to go. This can occur when there is heavy precipitation, increase population density and/or outdated and damaged infrastructure. Recently this has happened in Calgary, Toronto, North Vancouver, Montreal, Ashville North Carolina, Valencia Spain and many regions around the world. So, what can be done to mitigate these damaging and devastating events that are becoming more frequent due to climate change? Municipalities can conduct risk assessments which include environmental and social impacts and develop flood mitigation strategies. In 2020 the city of Kelowna modelling showed that their peak flood levels were increasing and existing structures were no longer suitable. MidSea Engineering (part of CIMA+ since 2023) designed an updated diversion structure that bridged concerns about costs, maintenance, capacity, environmental impacts and debris management with the project completed in 2024. CIMA+ has been awarded a consulting contract for the electrification of Purolator Inc.’s transportation fleet, marking one of the most significant projects of this nature in Canada. CIMA+ will support Purolator Inc. in planning the transition, completing the detailed engineering, upgrading the utilities’ interconnection, and supporting the company in its construction and deployment of the charging infrastructure in Purolator’s warehouses across the country. Exciting times at the 2024 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, August 18-21, 2024. Our CIMA+ booth was busy the entire time, and we had the privilege to network, attend insightful sessions, and participate in engaging plenary programming, making it a fantastic opportunity to re-connect with 440 municipalities in attendance. A special highlight was hearing from provincial MPPs and leaders in the community such as, Colin Best, Marianne Meed Ward (C.Dir.), Karen Redman,and Jennifer McKelvie along with announcement from Sylvia Jones, regarding $378 million to support 19 treatment and social support hubs  The discussions were insightful and underscored the importance of collaboration across #municipalities to drive impactful change.
