Srinidhi Lakshmanan, Director of Research & Learning Simple Education Foundation, spearheads the learning process at SEF, ensuring that every intervention, resource, or curriculum designed is aligned with SEF's student vision and delivers meaningful learning for children. She is joined by Reeta Rayal, Community Teaching Fellow, Centres of Excellence, Tehri Garhwal. Reeta joined SEF as a teaching fellow in 2021 to fulfil her dream of becoming a teacher. She wants to contribute to improving the nation’s children's future. Helen Issar is the Founder and Director of Papagoya Education Pvt Ltd, a model kindergarten and school firmly based on principles of Play in learning and offers a play-focused approach for children from 12 months to 18 years. With over 20 years of experience spanning multiple continents and across marketing, entrepreneurship, and education, her passion for creating joyful learning environments for children resulted in the start of Papagoya. She is joined by Miro, a learner and key stakeholder, from Papagoya. Swetha Guhan, Co-Founder & Chief Impact & Strategy Officer, Key Education Foundation, works closely with the product development and program teams in creating & delivering affordable, contextual and high-impact solutions for schools, teachers, parents and children. Swetha serves on the Early Childhood Care and Education Taskforce constituted by the State Education Policy Commission, Karnataka and engages closely with governments to design impactful solutions for Early Childhood Education. Celebrating 11 Years of SEF: Dreaming of Joyful Learning Spaces for Teachers Today, I spent a large part of my day in a block-level training aimed at creating opportunities for teachers to share their work and foster a culture of peer-learning. Similar to teacher trainings I’ve attended, the day followed a familiar rhythm: 🧠It began with teachers using the space to express their frustrations. 🤝Gradually, we moved towards building a shared perspective on focusing on what is within our locus of control. ♥️This evolved into meaningful connections among teachers—important because these trainings are often the only spaces where educators from rural, single- or double-teacher schools can interact with peers. 🌸Finally, we arrived at a space of collective learning (though, of course, there were back-and-forth moments along the way). Interestingly, much of the day was spent navigating this journey of release, perspective-building, connection, and eventual learning. This got me thinking: 🎨What if these realities were intentionally designed into the training process? 💪🏽What if facilitators were supported with skills to skillfully guide this journey? 🌱What if these spaces didn’t just focus on learning but also supported teacher well-being, perspective-building, and actionable insights? On Simple Education Foundation ‘s 11th anniversary, I feel deeply hopeful and optimistic about reimagining teacher learning spaces as both joyful and skillful. Because when we nurture loving, skilled, and intuitive teachers, they go on to nurture a loving, skilled, and intuitive generation of children. 💭How do you create joyful, skillful learning spaces for teachers?
