I’m quoted in The Hindu businessline’s story on AI regulatory oversight in India by Vallari. I’ve highlighted the need for a regulatory gap analysis while applying existing laws to AI harms, gathering evidence of the harms in the local context, understanding the economic cost of new regulatory actions — and leaning on an Indian AI Safety Institute to do some of this work. There’s a lot India needs to do on AI but bringing a new law on AI shouldn’t be one of them currently. Full story here:
