“It molds you, then breaks you down, only to build you back up again. Natural #bodybuilding is more than an athletic pursuit – it is a rebirth of sorts.” Meet Ashwin Ponnusamy, a 28-year-old System Engineer from Coimbatore, who is making waves in bodybuilding. For the 4th edition of #MeetTheBoschlers, we caught up with Ashwin, a two-time, internationally acclaimed pro-card holder. He is the only Indian to win a silver medal at the UAE #ICN (I Compete Natural) Pro Show and earned a pro-card at the 2024 #WNBF Dubai event. Ashwin’s foray into bodybuilding began in 2020. Though athletic from a young age, dabbling in handball, football, and running, it wasn’t until he graduated and moved to Chennai that he was drawn to the individual challenge of bodybuilding. His dedication paid off in 2020 with a gold medal and the title of Mr. Tamil Nadu. A turning point was in 2022, when Ashwin’s physique impressed an international panel at the ICN India Goa Super Show where he clinched his first ever pro-card. Ashwin addresses the difference between bodybuilding and competitive bodybuilding: “Many think bodybuilding is just about building muscle, but competitive bodybuilding requires much more. You need to be super shredded – which means body fat levels often drop to 10%. There’s immense pressure to maintain strict dietary and exercise regimens during competition seasons. The toll isn’t just physical – your mind feels the strain too.” Currently preparing to represent India at the 2027 US WNBF WORLDS show, Ashwin also dedicates time to helping young bodybuilders through his platform @ashwin_physique_pro on Instagram, while advocating for natural bodybuilding. “There’s no rule that you need enhancers to compete. Bodybuilding requires patience and discipline. Many trainees give up after 3 to 5 months when they don’t see immediate results. But it’s crucial to trust the journey and push forward with passion and determination. This is as much an art as it is a sport,” Ashwin says, emphasizing the challenges that often deter aspiring bodybuilders. Bosch’s manufacturing plant in Jaipur celebrated 25 years of operations this year – a silver jubilee marked by sustainable innovations and environmental stewardship, with associates and their families joining in the celebration. Reflecting on this milestone, Ankur Kapoor, Plant Head Technical, Jaipur Plant Sr. General Manager at Bosch India, remarked: “The remarkable expedition of 25 years has been possible due to the dedication of our people and partnerships with stakeholders from the ecosystem. With our theme JaP.NXT - Nurture, Excite, and Transform, we envision a future of limitless possibilities, embracing advanced technologies and sustainable practices that reinforce Jaipur’s pivotal role in Bosch’s global network. We will continue to create enduring value as well as meaningfully serve the community.” Established in 1999 as Bosch’s fourth facility in India, this plant manufactures automotive components such VE pumps (used in diesel engine fuel injection systems) and injectors for commercial vehicles. Driven by innovation, the plant has adopted effective, cost-competitive technologies and sustainable solutions that reduce energy consumption by nearly 40%, decrease freshwater dependency, and prevent 58 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Through community initiatives such as mobile medical units, the installation of RO plants providing clean water to over 1 million people, and skilling programs like BRIDGE and Pragya Niketan, the plant extends its impact far beyond its operations, addressing the health, education, and development needs of rural communities. As a significant gesture of commitment to the environment, the Jaipur team has planted 25,000 trees, transforming neglected areas into flourishing green spaces. Over the past 25 years, the plant has grown from producing 25 to 1,000 VE pumps daily, driving job creation and transforming the industrial landscape of Jaipur. Recognitions such as gold and silver at the 5th CII National DigiTech Circle Competition 2024, the International Safety Award, and the Bhamashah Award, are a testament to the plant's commitment to excellence and its continued success. What if we could pause time, capturing moments of innovation, passion, and progress, to be rediscovered at just the right moment? In every corner of Bosch’s history lies a story waiting to be told — one that reflects the ingenuity and spirit that have shaped our journey. The #BoschTimeCapsule is our way of unlocking these stories, offering a window into the past, so we can better understand the present and ignite the future. With this series, we will delve into Bosch’s legacy, sharing tales that continue to inspire and guide us forward. It was June 23, 1906 — just another day on the factory floor in Stuttgart, Germany. But for the workers at Bosch, this day marked the beginning of a transformative era. At a time when the metalworking industry demanded grueling workweeks of 57 to 60 hours, Robert Bosch implemented a pioneering decision to reduce the workweek to 48 hours. This change meant associates could now work eight-hour shifts while enjoying an extended lunch break, setting a new standard for employee welfare and productivity. This revolutionary move showcased Bosch’s belief in the balance between work and well-being — ushering in a progressive approach that would influence labor practices for years to come. This landmark change in organizational policy during the production of Bosch’s 100,000th magneto ignition system, was embraced by associates and led to a notable rise in productivity and economic progress. It marked a turning point in how work-life balance was perceived, both within and beyond the organization. Early in his journey toward what would become a thriving career, our founder, Robert Bosch, was deeply inspired by the belief that the success of any organization is intrinsically tied to the intellectual growth of its people. This conviction may have taken root during his formative years as an apprentice in precision mechanics, where he first encountered the value of technical mastery. It was further shaped during his studies at Stuttgart Polytechnic, where he recognized the need for more robust skill development. These experiences ignited a lifelong passion to champion a culture where organizational success and individual growth are linked — a vision that has continued to define our company’s ethos of continuous learning and excellence. At Bosch India, we are building on the rich legacy of skill development by fostering ‘high-trust, high-performance’ environments where our associates feel valued and motivated. From global training centers, technical libraries, and digital platforms to the Bosch Learning Campus (BLC) in Karnataka, we provide avenues for continuous growth. Initiatives like ‘EmpowHer,’ which address the underrepresentation of women in leadership, exemplify our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, empowering individuals to drive progress and innovation with resilience and confidence. Recognized as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fourth consecutive year, we remain dedicated to advancing employee wellness, diversity, and inclusion, while continuously identifying and addressing areas where we can make an even greater impact. #LearningCulture #AssociateDevelopment #ContinuousImprovement #ProfessionalGrowth #WorkplaceExcellence #Upskilling
