Transforming rural livelihoods through organic farming

About us

Akshayakalpa is India’s first certified organic dairy enterprise bringing together a balance of practices based in science and the traditional heritage of dairy farming. At Akshayakalpa, sustainability is not a choice, it is a way of life. Our farmer-first, planet-friendly approach ensures every product that goes from our lush farms to your fridge is rich in nutrition, free antibiotics, chemicals and preservatives. At the heart of our eco-system is our community of farmers. Our farmer entrepreneurship initiatives empower them by providing the resources required to emulate a business model that is not only profitable but humane, honest and above all, ethical. We believe in conforming to standards of what is good and right. At Akshayakalpa, this begins at the grass-root level - literally! Organic fodder grown on our farms is the source of nourishment for our cows. No chemicals or hormones are added to their diet and thus do not find their way into the produce. Our cows are free-roaming and stress-free, which positively impacts the quality of the milk and it is high in nutrition and taste. We are part of an on-going journey to create sustainable dairy farms which are a perfect amalgamation of our goal to nurture nature, preserve traditional practices and our scientific expertise. Akshayakalpa Organic milk is the main ingredient for all our products and it is here that we begin our assurance of quality and taste. Our milk is untouched by human hands, cooled via scientifically designed techniques and packaged with utmost care. This ensures zero-contamination and a high quality of product – both of which are tested regularly at our facility. Our Farm Fresh Milk and A2 Milk are used in our other organic dairy products like curd, ghee, butter, paneer and artisan cheese under the Akshayakalpa brand. Each of these products bear the stamp of sustainability, nutrition and great taste – everything Akshayakalpa stands for!

  • Organically farmed, backyard, free-range eggs are considered superior in nutrition compared to eggs from confined hens. Here is what you need to know: - Organic farm eggs contain more omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for heart health and brain function. - They are richer in natural vitamins A and E, which are important for immune function, eye health, and antioxidant defenses. - They have a more favorable fatty acid profile, with higher levels of unsaturated fats and lower levels of saturated fats. - They have good beta-carotene and lutein amounts, which help protect against oxidative stress and inflammation. - Organic Eggs are less likely to contain disease-causing pathogens, such as Salmonella, due to the hens' access to fresh air, sunlight, and exercise. Organic poultry eggs are also about the hens' environment and their living conditions: - These farm hens forage for insects, worms, and plants, which provides a more diverse and nutrient-rich diet. - These hens have access to outdoor spaces, allowing them to exercise and breathe fresh air, which improves their overall health and well-being. - These hens experience reduced stress levels due to their natural environment and social interaction with other hens. What’s more, the eggs are free from antibiotics and induced growth hormones. So, look no further for real nutrition, order via the Akshayakalpa Organic app. #akshayakalpa #organicfarm #poultry #organiceggs #eggnutrition #savefarmers

  • Fun Fact: Did you know that to make just 454 grams of honey, a single bee taps around 2 million flowers and flies an astonishing 80,000 kilometers, that’s more than twice around the world? The role of bees in sustainable farming: While honey production itself is fascinating, honey bees contribute far more to agriculture than just honey. They play a crucial role in sustainable farming by being pollinators and increasing the crop yield, yet their importance is often undervalued. Many farmers overlook beekeeping, seeing it as extra work with unclear benefits, while the powerful impact of natural pollination often goes unrecognized. Why has Akshayakalpa included bees in their cycle of agriculture: We have integrated honey bees into our farms, recognizing their power to transform agriculture. Bees, as nature’s most efficient pollinators, help increase plant health, promote more blooms, and lead to larger, healthier harvests. Additionally, beekeeping offers farmers a low-investment way to generate extra income through multiple revenue streams including honey, beeswax, bee venom, propolis, and royal jelly, all of which have significant market demand and medicinal value. Beyond productivity and income, bees contribute to sustainable farming by enhancing biodiversity, eliminating the need for synthetic fertilizers, and encouraging natural growth cycles. We believe that our commitment to sustainable agriculture means working in harmony with nature. By creating a bee-friendly environment, we not only boost crop yields but also support biodiversity, healthier farms, and stronger rural livelihoods. Here are some glimpses of beekeeping from the Akshayakalpa farms in Tiptur.

  • When we don’t recycle, the problem doesn’t disappear, it simply becomes invisible for a while, only to eventually find its way back into our environment and even into our children’s bloodstream. Overcoming excuses and stepping beyond convenience is crucial because recycling isn’t just about managing waste. Its about ensuring long-term health, resilience, and a sustainable future. This change is challenging, but it’s more critical than ever, especially with the unprecedented levels of pollution and the climate crisis we face today. Together, we must work toward a society where recycling becomes second nature. Watch the full video (link in the comments). • For 35-year-old Narendra Dyavenahalli, the year 2015 feels more distant in the memory than it really is. And, he prefers it that way for it was the year when he quit a reliable job with the Central Railways to become a farmer. Even after back-breaking efforts in growing vegetables, he incurred heavy losses that forced him to quit and move to Bangalore to take up a non-farming job. He was going to end up being a part of the rising statistics of people who give up farming and move to cities to earn better. But fate had other plans for Narendra. The tragic death of his elder brother brought him back to the same place where his first attempt at farming had failed—his hometown, Channarayapatna. But this time, it was more than just an attempt at making money. It was, perhaps, a final shot at survival. Hence, he had to do things differently. He set up a dairy farm with just two cows and supplied 25 litres of milk daily to a cooperative. His wife, Roopa, an MA graduate, joined forces. In 2019, their growing interest in organic farming introduced them to Akshayakalpa. Roopa likes to call it, “A turning point for the family.” The couple adopted Akshayakalpa’s organic and sustainable farming model. Moving away from a conventional dairy, they created an open barn for the cows, started growing maize and Super Napier grass for fodder with zero chemicals. With the support of our extension officers, they began testing the milk every day and stored it in a Bulk Milk Chiller (BMC). While the farm flourished under Narendra’s supervision, Roopa steered the post-milking operations. Circa 2024, Narendra and Roopa now have 16 cows and supply around 210 litres of milk per day. Their children, Thejashwini (7) and Bhavish (5) are gradually learning the ropes of organic dairy farming and haven’t dismissed the idea of a future in farming. To abandon a future in farming in an agrarian country like India could mean a blow like no other. Usually, all it takes for a farmer to march on is your support. Akshayakalpa proudly assists hundreds of farmers like Narendra and Roopa. Because we believe, if the producers vanish, so will the consumers. Happy Farmers’ Day to the real nation builders.
