In #Thailand, mangrove ecosystems are essential to the fishing industry and the general life of local people. However, over the past 50 years, over 60% of Thailand’s mangroves have been lost due to deforestation and urban development, highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts. A pioneering research team, led by Dr. Wirulda Pootakham at Thailand's National Omics Center (NOC) under BIOTEC-NSTDA is investigating the genetic diversity of Thai mangroves—a critical factor in prioritizing conservation strategies.
