FedEx will spin off its LTL trucking unit, FedEx Freight, into a separate, publicly traded company within the next 18 months, the parcel giant announced Thursday. “This is the right time to pursue a separation as we respond to the unique dynamics of the LTL market,” said Raj Subramaniam, FedEx president and CEO, in the announcement.

The Federal Reserve trimmed the main interest rate by a quarter percentage point Wednesday in its third straight reduction since September, while indicating that it may slow the pace of easing in 2025 compared with its prior projection. “We are at or near a point at which it will be appropriate to slow the pace of further adjustments,” Fed Chair Jerome Powell said during a press conference. Southeastern Freight Lines relocated its Louisville, Kentucky, service center, expanding it to include an elevated appointment warehouse, a driver rest facility and a truck shop, according to a Dec. 9 press release. DHL Supply Chain has launched autonomous transportation services along two routes in Texas through a partnership with Volvo Autonomous Solutions, according to a Dec. 11 press release. The company is now hauling freight along the Dallas to Houston and Fort Worth to El Paso lanes using the Volvo Trucks VNL Autonomous.
