"Nearly 30% of family caregivers reported having stopped saving and more than 20% used up their personal short-term savings as a result of caregiving," according to a report from TIAA Institute. The economic impact of caregiving is especially pronounced in women, who represent 2/3 of family caregivers - i.e. unpaid care providers. Earlier this week, the US Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee passed by unanimous vote the Reauthorization of the Older Americans Act, which is critical legislation to renew funding and strengthen services for older Americans. The legislation now moves to the US House of Representatives for a vote. Milken Institute Future of Aging is fully supportive of the passage of this important legislation.

The Alliance to Improve Dementia Care at the Milken Institute Future of Aging is excited to be a strategic partner with Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative on their efforts in scaling #earlydetection.
Breaking: The Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative today announced the launch of our U.S. Early Detection Fellowship Program, an initiative to support health systems in implementing #earlydetection of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease in #primarycare settings across the United States. Ten U.S. healthcare systems, representing a diverse cross-section of healthcare delivery models, geographic regions, and patient populations, have been selected to participate in this program. Each site will receive seed funding to support the implementation of early detection programs, along with comprehensive coaching and technical assistance on program delivery from DAC experts based on the DAC #HealthcareSystemPreparedness Early Detection Blueprint.
