Earlier this month, Aspen FSP gathered national leaders with lived experience of financial insecurity alongside nongovernmental and philanthropic organizations to discuss how we can make person-centered practices the default in financial security initiatives. Our conversation featured bold calls to action and frank dialogue about what true expertise looks like and how institutions can leverage their resources to support real power change. The innovations we shared have the potential to create more effective systems and shared prosperity. Panelist and The Families and Workers Fund Essential Leaders Council member Jessica Jackson put it this way: “If people know that the individuals in those communities hold the exact cure…if we’re able to harness those people and their expert skills, then we will not only survive, we’ll thrive.” We’re grateful to all of the panelists who shared learnings, innovative practices, and models for adopting person-centered approaches: Dan Porterfield, Joanna Smith-Ramani, Callie Greer, Maryann Broxton, Tim Shaw, Riani Carr, Erin Currier, Dina Emam, Sarah Haight, and Tyonka Perkins Rimawi!
