I’ve heard this said many times and I’d have to agree that they can play a huge part.

First of all it should be known that the first thing employers need to do is look at employees workload, job design and processes to ensure they lend themselves to positive health and wellbeing.
There is no one-size-fits-all silver bullet solution.
But…
I’d definitely say that it’s worth considering starting with your leaders, managers and wellbeing champions in mind.
💡 When it comes to supporting employees around financial education and wellbeing we’ve learnt a lot.
The biggest challenge was making it inclusive for all and then personalised for the individual.
Your company will have people of various ages, various income levels, family situations, levels of experience and confidence, ranges of needs and challenges, elements of neurodiversity and at various stages along life’s financial journey.
It’s taken us almost three years to learn what employees want (and need) and also how to maximise impact, engagement and return on investment

These are areas that our clients have asked us to develop over the last three years.
They might seem simple and some of them you can definitely do yourself or for little cost.
Why start with leadership training❓
It’s funny that Leadership Training was the last area that we were asked to develop but that’s just the way it’s happened.
Employers love all the other areas but conversations were still happening when we weren’t there.
They wanted to up-skill their leaders, managers, mental health first aiders, champions and key employees internally so they could support colleagues themselves.
It took us 12 months to listen and learn how to do this with various pilots before launching our CPD certified FinWELL Champions®️training in January 2024. 🚀
It was important for them to be able to ‘put their own oxygen mask on first’ and get to grips with their own financial wellbeing before feeling confident enough to help others.
A small start…
We’ll have trained almost 250 Champions this year and also 20 instructors, many being experienced mental health trainers with MHFA England®.
We’re now seeing this being rolled out on a global basis with encouraging take up in specific sectors such as construction, police and emergency services, recruitment and healthcare.
We will continue to listen and learn.
