We couldn’t end the year without giving a special shoutout to the attendees of our 2024 summer school! This year we camped out at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London / Fashion Business School, London College of Fashion campus in Stratford for two weeks, with two talented cohorts of 14-17 year olds. From deadstock that was kindly donated from ASOS.com the groups went on to moodboard, sketch, craft, sew (some learnt how to use a machine for the first time) and then present their work back to their fellow attendees. We also had special guests drop in from our industry partners to talk about their roles in the industry in more detail, and we got the chance to hang out at the Dr Martens office! A BIG thank you to our students for coming along and creating great work, to the LCF and its teaching staff for their partnership and support, and to the guests who helped to break down the industry! Every mentee cohort we always try to take our group to visit an exhibit, and thanks to our partners at HUGO BOSS, we were able to welcome not just cohort 7 but other members of our community to join us for a private viewing of the Naomi exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in August this year. Just over a week ago we had the absolute pleasure of co-hosting an event to celebrate the recipients of our 2023/24 scaleUP incubator in partnership with ASOS.com It was a great opportunity to celebrate our 6 winners Dolap (Taideux), Maddie Sellers (Senja by Maddie) Pokuaa Ansere (Kwaku Joseph), Jackie (ELJAE London), Rosette A. (Revival Ldn) and Isabelle Pennington-Edmead (namesake brand), by bringing members of the fashion industry to see their collections and meet with the founders. A special shoutout to ASOS for their partnership on this special project that supports ethnic minority / global majority founded brands and we can’t wait to see two of the brands launch collections on asos in the next two months. Meeting like-minded professionals in fashion who look like me at the Black Business Week 'Black Fashion Talks' seminar has left me feeling proud, inspired and refreshed. What an insightful Q&A segment. I found touching on communication with data driven stakeholders who "talk in numbers" while being a creative to be especially helpful. I can't wait to integrate these pointers into my professional life. It was a pleasure to represent FINESSE today. Thankyou for having me Fashion Minority Report.

Feeling proud of being part of Deckers Brands EMEA BLK ERG leads as we celebrate Black History Month in the UK! We had a fantastic panel talk, spotlighting Ainé Hurlock , Lauren Allen, Roxana Blair and Sergio Macedo Chiteculo who shared their experiences and what it means to be a Changemaker! Followed by an industry mixer, bringing together our partners Fashion Minority Report and Coram's Fields, alongside Black-owned businesses and ERGs from other companies. Being able to connect and celebrate African descendants’ heritage and opening up the conversation on how to build a more inclusive world has been enriching and inspiring. Massive well done 🎉 Sarah Bamidele, Ruth Peixoto Delgado, Ludivine Rugard, Ainé Hurlock, Roxana Blair, Sergio, Lauren and Stella Nitschke for making this happen and thank you to everyone who were able to attend the events virtually and/or in person ✨

🎉🎉 I can finally share some great news!!! 🎉🎉 I have been accepted onto the Fashion Emerging Professionals mentorship programme ran by the Fashion Minority Report as a mentee! Last month I had a great interview with Daniel Peters and Aoife Akue, where I was offered a place on the programme during the interview process. I am so grateful that they saw potential in me, and gave me this (much needed) vote of confidence, whilst I begin the daunting process of applying for 12 month industrial placements for the next academic year!! I’m incredibly grateful to have Natasha Lewis as my mentor. Her impressive career history is truly inspiring, and I already know hearing about her journey will be amazing. Looking forward to our first meeting , so eager to learn from her extensive experience! Additionally, I want to thank Auriel Majumdar for the excellent onboarding training last week, which has equipped me with the knowledge to make the most of this process. This is such a wonderful opportunity, and I am already so excited to learn!!
