SCALE UK debrief: The highs and the highs!

Last week, the second edition of SCALE UK took place at The Oval in London. It’s taken a few days for our team to recover and take stock of what took place, here’s our quick debrief on the highs and highs of an adrenaline-fuelled 48 hours!

From the beginning, the SCALE concept has always been about bringing together multi-unit professional property managers for learning and networking, and content is always the primary focus. 

We understand that as a professional operator, you want to hear from the brightest minds in the industry. Generic and beginner’s content is an absolute NO and we also understand that you don’t want to be sold to.

So, it’s always content-first at any SCALE event and our team works hard for many months in advance to deliver thought-provoking, country-specific sessions to the stage.

At SCALE UK we delivered three tracks, 32 sessions and over 50 speakers, for a full content blowout, covering all of the topics pertinent to the UK industry in today’s climate.

A smidgen of the best SCALE UK moments

There were many lightbulb moments at SCALE UK but we got amazing feedback on the roundtable sessions - which gave attendees the chance to steer the narrative for 2025.

Sally Henry's data session always draws a big crowd with attendees eager to hear insights from Key Data on current and future market trends.

The Young Guns session moderated by Richard Vaughton with Corin Craig Jackson, Freeman Richards and Josh Guest - Short Term Rentals Expert was an incredible dive into the minds of the youngest stars in our industry. The outcome was definitely tech-first for these entrepreneurs.

Thanks to Holly Phillips from For Digital Sakes who delivered a last-minute adapted session on video marketing (sorry Holly!) to a packed and super attentive workshop crowd. 

Oliver Stern from Wheelhouse took to the stage to share mindfulness techniques to 'overcome' overwhelm. A welcome step away from traditional STR content which attendees really appreciated. 

Jamie Miles from Anglesey Holiday Lettings took us on a no-holds barred journey through a year of upgrading AHL’s tech suite. Lots of head nodding and laughs as he shared the ups and downs of trialling new tech.

Dale Smith and Suzanne Luscombe of Host & Stay/ resicentral®'s session on Increasing Property Owner Loyalty and Value with Automated Green Tech was standing only and saw a stream of questions and follow-on conversation. 

The real-life exit stories recounted by Jane Mack, Lisa Roads and Simon Tolson also brought a flurry of questions and praise. Their personal experiences resonated with many attendees who were contemplating an exit or merger, now or in the future. 

Finally, it’s no surprise to us that the two regulatory sessions with Fiona Campbell from the Association of Scotland's Self-Caterers and Alistair Handyside MBE from PASC UK were highly attended and valued. 

With regulatory and tax changes on the horizon, these were unmissable headline sessions with the final Advocacy in Action session on Day 2 a passionate appeal to join your local association: to show up and be heard, as together WE ARE STRONGER.
