Labor remains a major challenge for restaurant operators. The key to finding the right fit and keeping staff? Clearly communicating expectations & being open to feedback. A well-structured BOH training program combined with ongoing support has shown an increase in staff retention. Combat labor challenges by: • Scheduling regular training sessions to keep skills sharp and staff engaged. • Fostering an environment for open communication across all levels of the back-of-house team. • Allowing staff to learn from experienced staff through shadowing. • Implementing regular feedback sessions to understand and address staff concerns. • Conducting daily pre-shift meetings • Leveraging technology to easily manage reservations, changing menus, and sales.

Onboarding new hires at the restaurant - - The dynamics of any restaurant industry says the inclusion of new blood in the operation always brings new creative ideas and strategies, serving styles and Guests' engagement which further results in achieving targets, attaining and retaining new Guests. - The onboarding process is a bit critical as one needs to assess and analyse each individual's strengths, weaknesses, experiences and potential calibre based on what the training modules can be crafted. - Assigning each new entrant with old experienced colleagues as a mentor to understand the service protocols. - Comprehensive training and briefings should be conducted to enforce and ensure they follow the restaurant protocols and guidelines. - Regular review and performance check needs to be conducted to assess the trainings efficacy on them.
