It is very important when to bring innovation into the market, too soon and adoption will never start picking up the pace, too late and less innovative solutions could have taken the market. Sometimes it is just best to be less innovative and acquire the market early on, sometimes it is not, and maybe luck plays the ultimate factor. Who knows? What do you think? #Innovation #ProductRelease #Monorail

Today marks the beginning of an exciting partnership with National Express Bus! 🚌 🎉 Transport should always be more accessible, especially for people with reduced mobility. As a region known for innovation, the West Midlands will be the setting for our trial of the digital twin tool, aimed at improving communication on the real-time status of wheelchair bays. This initiative is a step towards making public transport more inclusive and user-friendly for all. Excited to see the positive impact this collaboration will bring to the community. Adam Rideout, Head of Customer Experience at National Express Bus, said: "As a leading public transport operator, we are continually seeking solutions to enhance our service quality and passenger experience. Involvement in this project aligns with our vision to support the diverse needs of all passengers, fostering a more inclusive community within our bus network." Chris Lane, Head of Transport Innovation at Transport for West Midlands, West Midlands Combined Authority, said: "Individuals with reduced mobility, such as wheelchair users and parents with prams, often experience uncertainty about the availability of accessible spaces on public transport. This can lead to increased anxiety and may discourage travel. To promote greater confidence and encourage independent travel, TfWM is pleased to support this project aimed at addressing this issue." Fun time ahead! More details: https://rb.gy/2x4549 #Accessibility #TransportInnovation #Inclusion #Mobility #DigitalTwin #DisruptionCommunication #DisruptionManagement

Cities are often the silent architects of micromobility failure 🚳👀 A bold statement… But all too often this is the reality. Operators of both public and private systems, advocacy & expert groups and even cities themselves will admit it behind closed doors but in public the finger pointing continues 👉🏻👈🏻 Now this isn’t to say that there aren’t some fantastic examples of innovation in regulation, governance and business models. Undoubtedly there has been significant improvements over the last 1-3 years, especially in the scooter space 🛴 Yet we know need to consolidate the learnings of the past across all #sharedmobility modes to align on what works and what doesn’t to ensure the longevity of industry players and prevent another bubble bursting 🫧 What’s your thoughts on how we change this way of thinking? https://lnkd.in/emH8yeGn

Revolutionary technologies don't always pan out as predicted. Remember the Segway? It made a big splash when it launched in 2001. Many industry luminaries, investors, tech stars, etc. made wild predictions about the impact of this new technology. You might remember one or more of these: Revolutionizing Urban Design: One of the most famous predictions was made by Steve Jobs and others, who suggested that the Segway would be as revolutionary as the personal computer. It was believed that the Segway would change the way cities were designed, with some even predicting that streets would be redesigned to accommodate these personal transporters, leading to a reduction in the need for cars. Replacing Walking and Biking: Some futurists predicted that the Segway would replace walking and biking in cities, becoming the dominant mode of personal transportation. They envisioned a future where people would no longer walk short distances but instead use Segways, which would significantly alter pedestrian infrastructure. Impact on Mass Transit: There were also predictions that the Segway would disrupt mass transit systems, as people would opt for their personal Segway instead of using buses, trains, or subways. This was expected to lead to a decline in public transportation use. Mass Adoption: The inventor, Dean Kamen, and others involved in the Segway’s development believed that it would sell in the millions within the first few years. They anticipated widespread adoption by the public, municipalities, and businesses, which never materialized. These predictions were largely based on the assumption that the Segway would be affordable, convenient, and universally accepted. However, the high cost, legal restrictions on where they could be used, and the public’s reluctance to adopt the technology led to the Segway becoming more of a niche product, primarily used for guided tours and by some security personnel, rather than the game-changer it was expected to be. Only 140,000 units were sold during the lifetime of the product. Keep this in mind when evaluating new "game-changing" technologies. #innovation #ai #future
